I feel sorry for you and others in your position. That is a very sad story.

But I also feel sorry for the many thousands with family in (until recently) Brisbane and also Sydney who were locked out of even coming home, much less visit family. And those with family in WA remain locked out of seeing any loved one as well. (I am not suggesting you are not aware and have compassion for those)

Everyone has their own story and I fully understand that but one has to be aware that this is a nation, and we really need to start behaving and operating like one, or the consequences will be horrid for everyone.

Indeed, plus those of us who are overseas with aging parents who will probably not get to see them for years to come; having last seen them late 2018. They were meant to be here early 2020, cancelled. We were meant to be in Aus late 2020, cancelled. Can't get flights into Aus as we require 1) exemption for Mrs FB 2) a lot of money to even find a seat (e.g. it's just not an option) and they can't come over here to see us due to the ban.

Such is where we are at the moment and hopefully Australia continues to define a catastrophic number of cases as the current cases and it never really does become a catastrophe, as it would be a more realistic target to say it'll be more like 2023 or later than I might be able to see any of my family again in person based on the current situation.

Backlash grows over huge North Bondi party, police investigation launched​

Anger is mounting as a video showing hundreds of revellers packed into a North Bondi beach party breaking coronavirus rules continues to circulate online.

NSW Police are investigating the bash, which was held on Sunday evening, amid concerns it breached COVID-19 gathering rules.

Footage and vision from the event appears to show hundreds of dancing partygoers packed into the popular area.

However, under current coronavirus rules applying to the Greater Sydney region, no more than 30 people can gather outside in a public place including parks, reserves, beaches and public gardens.

The video has sparked severe backlash, with social media users slamming the revellers as “selfish” and pleading with authorities to “throw the book at them”.

I can't get into that thinking mode and have to keep thinking that I will see family in around 12 months. It is less than 12 months since this all began and we were told there was no vaccine and experts were saying there likely won't be one. There now is. Whilst there are so ,any unknowns I have to keep the hope.

If this is true there would be more uproar from Victorians en mase re the AO which is greater risk than a Victorian who has been visiting Sydney relos in a suburb with zero cases, returning to their home and waiting for a test result.

The reason Victorians suffered through such a long lockdown was your government let you down by not controlling the second wave and then being super slow to release restrictions when things started resolving.

No one is saying you didnt have a rough period, but it is nonsensical to over-react to a small number of cases in NSW and assume the worst of us when there is no history of cases exceeding capacity of contrat tracers or exploding to scary levels. There is a reason the Feds dont consider anywhere NSW a hotspot, that is because the numbers just dont tell that story.

The NB cluster is resolving much faster than the Crossroads Hotel, NSW proving yet again they can manage cases without having to shut down the whole city or state, NSW's slogan may not be "Stay Safe, Stay Open" like Victoria, but we have managed to Stay open and stay a lot safer. a handful of cases is not a reason for anyone except close contacts to lose any freedoms.

Like I said, if you havent lived it you cant possibly understand that there are a lot of people very nervous about having this year go the south. Just because you arent hearing about it doesnt meant they arent out there; another forum I'm on is littered with people who are desperate to make sure their kids actually get to go to school this year. Heck, I'm desperate to make sure there arent any restrictions when I give birth soon, because five days alone in hospital with a newborn would suck.

I dont think NSW has been that safe, given the number of mystery cases at the moment.

This is a failure of policing. There is almost always a police presence somewhere at Bondi Beach along Campbell Parade at any time day or night. A bit like the party on Christmas Day at Bronte, a quick intervention to stop the music would have sorted this.

Do NSW Police not have any intelligence officers?

There were rumours WA may reopen 'early' according to their 'health advice' as well in the media this morning, but you know pigs also might fly

Throughout the pandemic WA seem to be quite eratic at reporting testing numbers, often going days without (sometimes a whole week) any updates then drop a larger number. Outside of HQ and backdated test requirments for arrivals, it doesnt seem testign has been a focus for WA. WA shoudl have complete dmore testing than SA given its population is 1 million higher.

You opinion, but its been safe enough not to need to put the state into a Vic style lockdown causing severe mental anguish and damage to the economy.

If these (as is likley) are largely back packers then its time for Police to lay charges, then to request the feds send them home (deport away). Backpackers may not be having the 1-2 years GAP year party experience they were hoping for, but they need to realise they have had incredible freedoms and and low risk compared to their homelands.

I suspect we will start to see parts of the headlands and beach closed off again like it was during March and April and hopefully larger police presence at the eastern beaches.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said there were four new COVID-19 cases recorded in hotel quarantine in the past 24 hours, but no instances of community transmission.

Queensland has recorded three new overseas acquired coronavirus cases all detected in hotel quarantine.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said one was a female in hotel quarantine and the two others were female flight crew who had departed Australia prior to their results being available.

"Once again, no concerns, and we are on track to have those restrictions lifted," she said.

"We've only got two more days to go, so fingers crossed that all will be very, very good for Friday morning."

There are now 26 active cases in Queensland and 6,699 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

During the Vic Presser today Dan stated that he was talking with some interstate colleagues (so I guess Premiers) on pooling of resources to provide Quarantine for Farmworkers to assist the agriculture sector.

Zero cases today is good, hopefully the family over the weekend was the tail of the Berala cluster.

Article in ABC news site today mapped all clusters in NSW from July to now, and all have had last cases within 3 weeks of the first, so if Berala follows suit should be good: We mapped all of Sydney's COVID clusters — and they have one thing in common

Fairfield Mayor demanding Vic, ACT and NT advise why Fairfield City is Red when no cases for over 90 days?

Dan Andrews just on ABC news saying the 10 LGAs are due to the Berala and Croydon clusters. Note the article I linked in earlier post shows that Inner West (renamed Croydon Cluster) is considered over - no new cases in last 14 days. So whilst Dan can use Berala cluster as an excuse he cant realistically use Croydon cluster.

Two of those Red zones Canada Bay and Fairfield have no active cases (and nether have had any for months) and Innerwest and Burwood have no mystery cases and 2 and 1 active cases (both will now have completed their iso periods).
