Be good to see the stat's of this terrible, vicious virus on international travellers in HQ:

*Number of COVID 19 infections diagnosed in HQ from international travellers all up in Australia.
*How many of these travellers died in their hotel rooms.
*How many of these travellers died after transferred to hospital.
*How many of these travellers were on ventilators.
*How many of these travellers in Intensive Care.
*How many of these travellers in hospital.
*How many of these travellers saw a doctor.
*How many of these travellers were given a panadol?

We booked a holiday to WA back in January 2020.Originally from 25/3-25/4.We changed that to 1/4-25/4 as the WA election is on 13/3.The flights are AA awards which can be cancelled at any time without charge.
Initially we had planned to spend time in Sydney to see our grandkids who we last saw on Boxing Day 2019.We now have awards SYD-PER and BNE-PER.So hopefully still able to travel.

I think this suggests he continued to work as a Ride Share driver possibly up to the day and the next, he became infected and it seems he did not give up the job when he became security:

“We suspect he contracted the illness on the Tuesday or the Wednesday.
“We are advised that he may have been a driver for one of the rideshare companies.
“The last day he worked in the hotel was Wednesday, but we are advised, and this is being carefully followed up, that he did not do any other work in the time since.”

The contact tracing venues don’t corroborate that story, unless they are his housemates workplaces.

Agree. Suspect more to unfold. These are supposed to be his movements not the contact.

Somewhat irrelevant really. HQ isn’t there to protect the traveller, it’s about protecting the vulnerable in the community. Australia has never really had uncontrolled spread, but the closest it had to that - in Victoria- 800 deaths. And if the genomics are to be believed the vast majority originated from just one family in HQ.

Of course the alternative approach is that of the UK, much of Europe and the US. Who knows - the hundreds of thousands of people sacrificed might be worthwhile if that means their citizens have maintained their freedom and their jobs. Oh hang on a minute ...

SA is up to speed. I just arrived in Adelaide and "have you been in WA...?" has been added to the questions.

Now the Vics have jumped in

Looks like Vics are trapped in WA unless they get a permit

“If you have been in one of these currently listed red zones since 25 January, you will not be allowed to enter Victoria without an exception, exemption or permitted worker permit.

Victorians who attempt to enter Victoria from a red zone via an airport or seaport will be fined up to $4,957 and will be required to quarantine at home for 14 days.

Non-Victorians travelling from a red zone attempting to enter Victoria via an airport or seaport will be fined up to $4,957 and will be placed in Hotel Quarantine until arrangements are made to return home at their own expense.”

Vic DHHS report. (I have been travelling all day and so someone may have already posted this).
Salient part

Investigations and re-testing have been undertaken on an indeterminate COVID-19 test result detected late last night in a man aged in his 30s.

The case received a weak positive test result last night which followed a negative test taken two days earlier.

Out of an abundance of caution, public health actions have been taken, including isolating and testing all close contacts of the case.

Initial repeat follow-up tests of the case and those of close contacts are negative but further investigations are ongoing.

Weak positives can be viral shedding of an old case, or they can also be a new infection in its early stages before the viral load has built. Or can just be a faulty result.

Should know either way tomorrow.

Thankyou for the update. In the (dreaded) “excitement” of WA I was wondering about this test. Fingers crossed it’s a total fizzer.

QF and VA may as well cease serving MEL if Victorians are going to continue to be locked out of their state in this manner. Who in their right mind would travel ex-MEL in this environment?

In the meantime they are treating it as if it is a postive case. So they will have rolled out two rings of containment.

The irony for me is that I flew to Qld to guarantee I do not get locked out and on that day there is one positive case in WA and another possible (though these possibles have actually been reasonably common) in Vic.

So that's everyone but NSW... Place your bets now for what they'll do in the morning.

For everyone following along with this dog's breakfast at home:

QLD : 6pm today PER is a hotspot - $2800 hotel quarantine required - anyone previously in Perth "should" get tested and self isolate until Negative result received.
TAS : Those off today's Perth flights told to self-isolate and await further instructions - restrictions likely to be introduced tomorrow.
SA : No restrictions on entry but must self isolate at home/accommodation for 2 weeks and get tested days 1, 5 and 12.
NT : 7:30pm today PER is a hotspot - $2500 hotel quarantine required - anyone previously in Perth needs to get tested and self-isolate until negative.
ACT : People on today's flight from Perth told to self-isolate and await further instructions.
VIC : 9pm today PER is a red zone - no entry at all unless exempt (freight driver etc) - not even residents can return - anyone previously in Perth needs to get tested and self-isolate until negative.

Victoria is clearly the strictest... locking out even their own residents for the time being.

Pretty obvious where this weak positive / negative came from if you read between the lines... They have second ringed everyone already just in case which reaffirms my suspicions, if it it is the case, will probably be a fizzer (thankfully) if it does turn out to be positive.

Interesting that all the states bar NSW have moved to similar positions, makes me think that more cases outside the immediate family are strongly suspected.

Makes me think of political imperatives in NSW.
