Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The question has been whether Premier McGowan is either a fool or a knave (I was tending to the latter). Seems he is both.

For the life of me I just can't comprehend such a laissez faire attitude to the first barrier of infection control, where there are known cases, yet at the first whiff of a positive case interstate, the borders are closed. Which in reality means that none of his decisions have been health based, but purely political.

I wonder if someone was secretly hoping for a little emergency just in time for a date in March.... conspiracy!! Call me RAM ;)

But seriously yes it is unbelievable how far behind WA is on everything covid related. Beginning to actually think the AMA might be right on calling them out as sloppy amateur operators!

Literally all they had to do was copy and paste VIC, QLD, well any other states hotel quarantine plan and it would have been better than what they are running.... it is pretty crazy.....

Well he is beginning to look like even more of a fool to the rest of the country. And not before time, too.

Amateurs indeed.

How is everyone on a floor with return travelers not wearing N95 masks and face shield for the duration of shift, the former changed at defined manufacturer intervals if necessary?

Who is running this show?

I have zero training in infection control and I know that would be a safer outcome for people at the coalface.

Better yet put up security cameras in each corridor - have guards monitoring that in a safe area, off site (or in hotel ballroom etc). If anyone pokes their nose out when they are not supposed to, then call the cavalry.

I am sick and tired of having my movement and life dictated to by governments who are instilling the fear of God in to the population about COVID-19 and not even having the respect or decency to manage their own quarantine facilities correctly. Either do it right, or let me make my own decisions about my life.

You can’t use the ballroom as in WA the same properties are hosting functions!!!

I don't know about other states, but this is also not happening in NSW quarantine either (or wasn't during first half of December). Surgical masks were routinely used though by guards stationed on my floor, worn over the chin.

My experience in HQ in Singapore was much more reliance on technological surveillance (CCTV, SMSs, video calls) rather than guards on each floor.

Gladys answered a question on this today, she didnt specify the type of masks but said that Security Guards onsite at HQ must wear mask for entirity of shift following recommendation of a national board (cant remember the name but it wasnt the AHPPC). It was subtlely implied they didnt know why WA hadnt adopted the same.

Oh they were wearing masks alright. Just over their chins. That aside what they “must” do and what they “are” doing are two separate things.

I know what I saw with my own eyes. And this wasn’t during the middle of the night. This was at meal times -just after meals were delivered when people were opening their doors. Some were wearing masks properly, but many were not.

SA sacked a security guard months ago for not wearing a mask on duty.

I think the Clinical Excellence Commission is a NSW thing

WA - 3 days of zero cases.
Gosh you are fast on the keyboard :) I was about to post as well but am obviously far too slow.

The 3 "housemates" who are probably the most likely to become infected have been tested again (3rd time I think) but those results have yet to be received. They have been in quarantine since at least Sunday so are probably unlikely to have been able to infect others as they returned negative results before going into quarantine.

I really don’t know how’s it’s conceivably possible that these people weren’t infected if the whole story is really being told.

I shouldn’t make assumptions... but one of my properties was once rented by a group of international students who were the loveliest group of guys, but I’d hardly call their living standards “hygienic”.

Pretty amazing that we live in a time where three totally innocent people can be taken from their homes, detained against their will and have something physically shoved in their body countless times until the government finds what they’re looking for.

So this super duper UK strain that is so contagious has somehow only infected 1 person?

Boy Who Cried Wolf. Brisbane, Auckland now Perth, in a few weeks. Who’s lining up next?
