Looks like someone at NTL got the State Rules rules changing for public transport (i.e. no more mandatory masks on buses, train, ferries, taxis, ubers etc) mixed up with Federal mandate re airports and flights (which are treated different to other forms of public transport).

Newcastle has never had mandatory masks for any purpose including public transport (other than the airport rule)
 
According to the ABC NT has also updated:

Northern Territory revokes Queensland hotspots​

Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands and Toowoomba have all been taken off the Northern Territory's list of COVID hotspots.

That means travellers into the NT from those places won't have to go into mandatory supervised quarantine, and anyone who is in that quarantine since those hotspots were declared will be able to leave.

A hotspot declaration remains in place for the Byron Shire.


Seems a little inconsistent though, as both Brisbane and Byron reported a case today, and both were linked to the same cluster. 1 linked case in Byron is a threat but 8+ linked cases in Brisbane for the same source is not?

Yep NTL site incorrectly states :

Makes my earlier post about a misunderstanding seem correct, because the only NSW mask directive that changed on 29th March was re masks wearing on public transport (which I think only applied in Greater Sydney, Wollongong and Central Coast) and Airports/Flights were never covered by that directive, but rather by the federal one.

Nothing on NSW Health site nor in the Premier or Health Ministers announcement re easing of restrictions this week, mentioned any change wrt to Airports.

It was actually really nice though not wearing a mask in the terminal. Knowing I’m about to spend the next four days in Brisbane wearing masks everywhere.

Not defending them, but I’ll make the most of it.
 
Finally an update on Victoria from ABC Covid Blog:

From 6pm Victorian time tonight, the Greater Brisbane area currently designated as a red zone under Victoria's travel permit system will become an orange zone, while current orange zones in Byron Shire NSW and Gladstone Region in Queensland will remain orange zones.

People in Victoria who are observing red zone permit conditions and quarantining for 14 days will be designated orange zone arrivals and can end their isolation from 6pm if they have had a coronavirus test and returned a negative result since arriving in Victoria.

This EXCLUDES primary close contacts linked to exposure sites in Queensland and NSW, who must continue self-isolating for 14 days since their exposure.

Reported them to the NSW Government, lets see how long they take to act.
 
Good ole SA still has hard border with Qld for Easter.
 
The Brisbane Qantas lounges reopen tomorrow at 5am. There was a sign up this afternoon.
