Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

We have all known since the early cases that the delay in many to get tested was a key issue in this outbreak.

However, there are no penalties for those individuals choosing to not get tested and instead go to work, so that behavior unlikely to change.

Vic Presser.

The new case in today's report is linked to Stratton Finance cases. As reported earlier this case was quarantining.

Interesting comparison of various pandemics - although the Covid bit is old and a bit hilarious in hindsight with 174 million cases and pushing to 4 million deaths

Not in the same league as this surely?
It was still declared as a pandemic. It was quite a deal for anyone working in major hospitals here and I did know of two close young people who had it - one very unwell, the other not so much. Covid - just heard of one person I knew in SA. Quite significant in SE Asia and I think Latin America.

It was 2009. Ms FM was in year 12 and her whole year 12 cohort at her school, was asked to stay home as they had had so many cases of swine flu. No one in our family had it, or if so it was very mild.

I think a lot of this is up to employers.

I got tested today. My boss said don’t come back until after the long weekend, and only if my symptoms have cleared.

Not all bosses are as good as that.

The standard winter colds/runny noses/fireplace related hayfever will be interesting. It will prompt people to go and get tested (as they’re basically forced to) and I have no doubt we’ll pickup more and more cases. I still believe it’s just floating around in the community like most viruses and we just didn’t find it over summer as testing dropped (outside of said “outbreaks”).

I believe both Sydney and Melbourne now picked up secondary “outbreaks” during their testing blitzes

Here in Tasmania I haven't seen a flu patient admitted yet.A very late start.
This is despite less than 50% of adult Tasmanians having had the vaccine this year.

Please don’t panic for QLD, our premier and CHO are real believers in the vaccine, we will be just fine 😂

In other news, more sewage fragments detected in Sydney, again....

NSW Health reports COVID-19 fragments in sewage

NSW Health was notified on Sunday evening that fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 were detected in the Castle Hill Sewage Network. This catchment includes about 8,400 people and takes sewage from the following suburbs: Glenhaven, Dural, Kenthurst, Kellyville, Castle Hill

Qld press conf currently running - woman was infectious from 3 June. Drove from Victoria through country NSW to Qld entering at Goondawindi (so likely on the Newell Hwy) and then on to Caloundra (Sunshine Coast) arriving on 5 June.

Also implied she did not have a permit. Looks like she's going to be in trouble with two states! (Well probably three - Victoria for leaving)

Any info on how she was in contact with the infection? It's not like it was significantly rampant in Victoria! Always surprises me that the odds of anyone being in contact with an infectious person are so low, yet here we are, again.
