Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

“It’s understood the woman and her partner only came forward for testing because the partner needed a negative Covid test result for work purposes”
They must have moved to Qld then so likely an acceptable reason for travelling.

Fairly certain if you have an exemption you have to arrive by air and only to certain authorised airports
I was thinking more being acceptable to exit Victoria. Each state has so many different requirements to be honest it is hard to keep up. I don't know what SA has in place as far as entry and I live here 😂

Technically that would go in the "New Zealand Reports of the Virus Spread" thread ;)

Though if their test had been positive, rather than negative then SYD and presumably other NSW locations would be exposure sites. If they later test positive, they will become so.

Initially I was surprised that they could board, but it may well be that they had NZ Passports.

If so, would they have not had to go into Quarantine given the date they left the DPRV?
Yes. But as I said they had an acceptable reason to exit Victoria. That’s all I was referring to. From then on each state has different rules in place.

Did they have ab acceptable reason to leave Victoria though. They left Melbourne after the present lockdown had begun.
He obviously did not have an exemption to move to QLD for work so leaving Melbourne and driving that distance was illegal.
Even if he had his exemption his wife would be unlikely to have one.Last year I got 3 exemptions to travel to Tasmania for work but mrsdrron was not allowed to accompany me.

So I would like to see them charged with failure to have the necessary paperwork to enter either NSW or QLD.
Next to be deported from QLD after the 14 days are up.
Then charged in Victoria for breaking the lockdown regulations.
Maximum fines on each charge.

The problem for us is they visited many of the places we would normally go to.So a risk mrsdrron won't be able to join me next month.

QLD Deputy Police Commissioner was heavily implying they arrived illegally. I don't think there's any question about it

According to the Brisbane Times they came to visit family !!:oops:

"Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said a 44-year-old woman had left Victoria and travelled through NSW to Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.

Ms D’Ath said the woman was tested on Tuesday and was confirmed positive on Wednesday. The woman visited several places, including Toowoomba and Goondiwindi, before arriving in Caloundra to stay with family members."

"All aspects’ of how traveller entered Qld to be examined, says police chief “Our primary focus at the moment is contact tracing ... but of course we are going to investigate the circumstances of what’s happened,” says Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski."
Police Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski could not comment on whether the woman had lied on her border declaration form.
Entry to Queensland has been banned from May 28 for anyone who has been in Victoria for the past 14 days.
“Our primary focus at the moment is contact tracing ... but of course we are going to investigate the circumstances of what’s happened here,” Mr Gollschewski said.

“We’ve got a couple that’s come from Victoria when Victoria’s in a lockdown.”

Yes but wasn't he the one who had to get tested for a job so that's why they did?

Yeah good pickup; as with most of these scenarios, some things not adding up.
