Australian state border restrictions

Being symptomatic or a close or casual contact has never been a requirement for free testing in NSW. If you are a close contact they prioritise your results, but they dont turn you away if you just want a test.

A round trip uber t airport and back 3 days before actually flying plus cost of private lab testing seems excessive requirement. A RAT at airport before departure fine, im already there, but why shouldnt i be able to go tot he nearest test site 4 blocks from my home and get a freebie since its completely pointless test anyway.

Youd think but Qld is on record saying they wont accept a text from NSW health as proof of negative test, this needs to change.

As far as I can tell - this is the official QLD Government web site that addresses this question:

And down the bottom is this info - directly screenshot from that QLD web site (down the bottom of the page), I would be waving that around if anyone in QLD was asking people for paper test results or PDFs.

The fact that you have had a PCR test also shows up in your Medicare App. The name of the practitioner is in SA situation, Nicola Spurrier CHO. The text message shows it as negative or otherwise.

All this bizzo about a test to enter QLD - its only for Vic/NSW, right?? I've just done a dummy entry permit, listing Tas, WA and SA in the past 14 days and no mention of a covid test. I didn't hit submit, though as I'm beyond the 3 day application period.

Wonderful, I have been trying to find something official and not news reports and you found it! Thank you!

Also good news, thank you.

This community provides so much.

Cheers all

With regards the QLD free testing: I've not been tested but have 3 kids who have had multiple tests with their results being sent via text to my number.
Depending on the clinic, the text reads Dear Childname or just a DOB (would be interesting if 1 was positive and 1 negative). The one with the name doesn't have a date in the text and the one with the DOB lists a date

The plot thickens re: QLD accepting state text results, "So as long as people can upload a screenshot of that text message, the system will accept that, but of course we are doing random audits and we will check people and we will make sure that everyone's doing the right thing," 'Expect to get checked': Police warn people flying into Queensland from COVID hotspots
This sideshow gets more ridiculous every day. None of the governments have any idea what they are doing and yet are trying to hoodwink everyone in to thinking they do...

Yes only for what the QLD government considers a "hotspot" - at the moment the QLD government considers all of NSW, ACT and VIC as all being a "hotspot" and required testing 72 hours before entry, but apparently the NT and SA are fine but Katherine and Robinson River are recently declared hotspots. The source for these localized NT hotspots must surely be Darwin, but so far Darwin is not a "hotspot" according to the QLD government, I expect this might change shortly. SA is already making noises about closing the border to the NT despite being comitted to reopening with all of the ACT, NSW and VIC. soon.

The problem for all these Covid-Zero states like WA, QLD, NT TAS and SA is that they are all only as good as their "weakest link" and at the moment its a race between them as to who will be the first to stuff up, and be the pathway for Covid getting into al these states.

They’ve done a miracle in SA by uniting the Vaxxers and anti vaxxers.

Yesterday Stevens (PC) has started backpedaling by saying it won’t be as bad as suggested. Too late. Like all good military plans devised in the office in practical application it will fail. He’s said that if QR check ins fall he will implement harsher restrictions so now it’s become weaponised. Yet many people check in with paper and pen. No way of counting that but it’s being put into the too-hard basket and conveniently ignored.

So guess i need to go and get a test (and waste resources) a week before hand to check exactly what comes through on the SMS, to see if it has all the required info.

Your phone should show the date and time the SMS is received irrespective of whether it is in the SMS itself, so that should be easy to screen shot.

Its nonsensical given Qld have poor testing volumes in their own state so have no idea what is actually circulating.

You'd think Qld would be falling over themselves to get southern money into their businesses, given that's the normal extent of their hospitality. They must be doing well.

I explained the QLD Home Quarantine requirements to a local here who is considering moving to QLD. Was able to show him a few of the comments here. At the end his reply was that it appears that the QLD Government wants to say that they have Home Quarantine but they don't want anyone to actually use it. Sounded right to me.

Does anyone know a centralised website that shows the COVID conditions required for travelling interstate for all states? I know I can look up individual government website but given each state has different rules I was hoping that there is a 1 stop shop for every Australian domestic traveller ....

Why is he even involved still?

You mean.... like....... AFF?

I was hoping that they can add each state into Smarttraveller website so that it can be easily spelt out. But I just cannot see it happening.

Whilst AFF is good, it is in thread form, and it is PITA to read many pages of it

Victoria easing a heap of restrictions from midnight. Full house at cricket and tennis

Living rather freely with Covid. ahhhhhh

Take a look 'other' states.....it can be done.

What restrictions do we have again Mclown.
NSW & VIC residents living same as WA residents, full stadiums, but amazingly we have covid in the community.

This is an absolute farce. How is a private lab test where your negative result is provided on paper any different from when it is provided in text from a government facility? Confusion as Queenslanders face $150 Covid tests
It’s because tax payers should not be funding tests for personal use (Pre holidays tests). Just public health required tests. Private test results are also sent by sms. It is ridiculous requiring a printed copy of result.
