Just remember that Queensland doonas are for Queenslanders.Should each of us stay 'under the doona' for the rest of our lives?

I would say the mindset is still Covid Zero. Tasmania likewise.
Dumbstruck (and screwed) by the sudden death no detail NSW announcement. What really worries me is what sort of nonsense Qld will bung on.
cheers skip
Well if it makes you feel any better, ours has already been scuppered. We should have been on our last leg now (DOH-PER), but ....... instead, I'm sitting in LON having just heard that we're now switching back to PCR day 2 tests (and isolate from arrival until the PCR test result comes in). Sigh.I’m sure after a big morning tea they will waddle up to the stand and we will get a big screamy presser from which I will not be watching and will just rely on AFF to distill for me later when I absolutely have to read it to be prepared for how it’s going to make my job harder and potentially tank our fmaily Christmas, again

Well, I know those are the words spoken here in SA too but sadly the actions suggest otherwise.Well, we'll just have to disagree on that. I can't see a change in policy, where Tas at least has kept COVID out of the community for more than a year, to one where the Premier has announced fewer restrictions such that he acknowledges that it WILL get into the community, and he's even specifically said that there WILL be deaths, as 'Covid zero mindset'.
You would have had one done to get back to Australia though? Wouldn't that suffice?Well if it makes you feel any better, ours has already been scuppered. Eh? I'm just noting that currently I should be on my way to PER for Christmas etc. But due to WA fortress amongst other things that isn't happening....Well, I know those are the words spoken here in SA too but sadly the actions suggest otherwise.

Oh sorry. Thought you might have cinched it and I hadn't kept up with the news.Eh? I'm just noting that currently I should be on my way to PER for Christmas etc. But due to WA fortress amongst other things that isn't happening....
Unfortunately not!Oh sorry. Thought you might have cinched it and I hadn't kept up with the news.
Totally agree. Having spent all but 5 months in Tasmania since the pandemic started the Premier has consistently laid out his plans publicly. What's more he has followed those plans. Basically the only times he has changed the plans have been to bring forward steps out of lockdown or to drop a couple of restrictions for entering Tasmania.Well, we'll just have to disagree on that. I'm reserving judgement. You may be right, to be honest I've not been observing my home State as closely as I possibly should. The ridiculous overkill lock down recently does not fill me with confidence.Well, we'll just have to disagree on that. I think in SA that may start emerging mid Dec. Unless this new Thang spoils the show. It will be used as an excuse anyway.I'm reserving judgement. For me to be happy, they'd have to hand back their SOE powers. It's really hard to plan anything with security in an effective dictatorship. It might be benevolent, but they can still change the rules at the drop of a hat. We're not at war, we have a nasty virus and if the system in 2020 was not robust enough to deal with it, eighteen months down the track, it should be. We already have another mutation, this could go on for years.
Next step will be to postpone elections because of the public health emergency. Guarantee they would, if they thought they could get away with it!
Except if they think they can win - like Gutwein did when he went a year early in Tas ( and he did)ext step will be to postpone elections because of the public health emergency. Guarantee they would, if they thought they could get away with it!
You're totally right. War footing always helps the incumbent. I was being facetious, always a courageous manoeuvre on a forum!Except if they think they can win - like Gutwein did when he went a year early in Tas ( and he did)
I presume you were not aware at the time that @PineappleSkip was physically travelling back to Australia at the time of their post.Should each of us stay 'under the doona' for the rest of our lives?
Meh. It's only a ATP250.I must have missed the news but Brisbane has lost the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament - a key lead in to the Aus Open!
Adelaide International, Sydney Classic still going ahead.
Sigh. Massive loss for us. Thanks QLD border rubbish…
Meh. It's only a ATP250.
Would've been a bigger loss if it was a ATP500 level tournament.
I am ready to be attacked but forgive me for not caring if Perth loses this….Doubts grow over Perth’s ability to host Ashes Test match, says WA Cricket chief Christina Matthews, as border restrictions cause havoc
WA Cricket chief executive Christina Matthews says there is now only a 50-50 chance of the fifth and final Ashes Test match being played in Perth, after initially being bullish about retaining the test.
The clear favourite to host the match if Perth Stadium is unable to is Tasmania, considering the state's earlier interest.
Canberra shapes as another option, but it faces juggling fixtures, with three WNCL matches from January 7 to January 11.
50-50 chance: Doubts growing about Perth hosting Ashes Test match
Hopes of Perth hosting the fifth and final Ashes Test have faded, with Cricket Australia chief Christina Matthews saying there is a 50:50 chance of the match being hosted in Western Australia.www.abc.net.au
