Australian state border restrictions

Seems SA are having a few "teething problems" today, from the local ABC Adelaide:

Gotta love that - new more transmissible variant but lower risk of serious illness - best put them all on a bus together then huh?

Good to see the lines of communication are open and working withing SA.

One of the other people in the clusterF by SA Health just received a call from SA Health asking for his email so they could send him his email notifying him of his quarantine discharge. They had no idea he'd been put into quarantine.

Another guy who tested positive and put into Toms Court Med hotel has demanded he be tested again. He has now received two positive and two negative reports.

While these poor people have been subjected to stupidity, they are very vocal and able to express their opinion publically and this only serves to discredit SA Health management of this and an appalling lack of leadership by Marshall. He's gone into hiding today.

Today's clusterF? No change to current and they will know more about Omicron Friday. Yeah. Right. They don't promise they won't shut the borders again which means that accommodation and restaurants are experiencing massive cancellations.

When does the second test start? If things aren’t sorted out soon that might end up in Perth which would annoy me immensely

Thursday week. Day nighter. Fires will burn if we lose it! There is a very significant Black Tie event at the Oval next Tuesday that we are going to plus all the cricket 'travelling' brigade. We expect it will end up as a Covid event given all the interstate and overseas attendees. However the Test will be over before SA Health can do all the tracing of participants.

I can see people will agree to have the test when they arrive, but then not physically able to get tested due to availability of testing centres etc. All you could do, is have it as close as possible after Day 5.

You can only do your best. Personally I wouldn't lose sleep if I got it 2 days late because I couldn't get an appointment. What are you going to do? Its not your fault. What are they going to do about it - nothing. 1000's, maybe 10's of 1000's will be in the same boat.

"South Australia is hoping to bowl over Cricket Australia with a convincing pitch to snare the fifth Ashes Test after Western Australia was knocked out of the game.

The SA government will bid for the test after Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley contacted state governments and cricket boards across the country on Monday evening to ascertain their interest in hosting the potential series decider.

Premier Steven Marshall said the government would be going in to bat for the state.

“Why not have it at the best cricket oval in the world – the Adelaide Oval,” he said.

“We would welcome the fifth Test here with open arms.”

We will be at 90% vaccination over 12's by then.

And yet another one approved for home quarantine but put into a hotel, with a seven week old baby and no way to sterilise bottles.
....and people complain about WA and QLD

Hypothetical question. If a domestic passengers arrives, is checked, cleared and released into the terminal but doesn't bother getting a test...what are the consequences? Does the SA system flag up if someone doesn't have a test associated with their Medicare number within a given time period? Especially if said person is only in SA for one night.
Hypothetical question, uninformed answer. I have no idea what checking systems the SA health have in place, the rules state that you need to get a test within 24 hours of arrival and as I live here just went through the motions. I do not actively check in each day rather I wait for the notification that I have not done the daily check in and respond using the I have no symptoms option. If you are only here overnight and depending on where arriving from you can most likely sneak in and out with out attention.

There is a review happening apparently.

The SA system will flag you if you don't get a test, when you have been allowed into the State on the premise that you will get a test. I'm not sure if there are any consequences. I have been thus flagged on multiple occasions but the reason has always been that I am no longer in the State.
Personally, I wouldn't risk it at the moment. Not if you're after a nice relaxing holiday and they know where you are staying. Different if it is only one night, there's no checks on leaving, although it might bite you, next time you came to SA. Unlikely though, they're not that organised. Entry is SAPOL. Tests are Health and they communicate as well as any other two government departements.

I’ve been ‘flagged’ in 2 states and the worse that happened to me was never ending text messages from Tasmania that I had to legally jargon threaten to get them to stop messaging me.

You are right their systems are not sophisticated or organised and nor should they be as will probably be dismantled in a few months / weeks even…

The problem is how many little empires have commenced construction. One can only hope that they haven't had time to put down solid foundations.

I applied for a border pass into SA that I never used. It expired on Sunday. I've had 8 texts since then asking me to click the link that Ive arrived. I have called them just to make sure I wasn't going to be checked on and they said to ignore.

I need help please!

I am QLD resident flying to UK soon. I return 7Jan into Sydney with 1 night booked at Rydges at the airport. The next day Sat 8 Jan I have a domestic flight booked SYD - BNE. I know I need the neg PCR and Aus Travel Declaration to enter SYD but after that I'm at a loss.

Do I need to stay 3 days in Syd or am I able to class the arrival in Syd as a transit and then fly to QLD the next day? (no flights same day and also on a different ticket). I can't find transit info on NSW info sites.

What do I need to fill out to enter QLD, a QLD travel declaration? Or is there an international arrival via transit different form?

As an international arrival i know i will need to quarantine. Has it been made clear yet if home quarantine is allowed in a house with others not quarantining? I have own entrance and bathroom and could add a bar fridge, kettle, microwave etc to self contained area but its still part of the house, just with closed doors.
It's not an option for the rest of the people in the house to isolate with me.
Can I hire a caravan and park it at my house?
I know I could just stay 14 days in NSW but it would be expensive in school holidays and I'd like to get back for my teenagers.

I know things are changing so quickly but I leave in 2.5 weeks and would love to have some idea before I leave about what I need to apply for/organise.

Thanks if you made it this far!
I will be ringing QLD Health too for info but thought more likely to get good info here!
Even allowing for the rules now not being the same next month, you are not “in transit”. Leaving the terminal, even to an on-site hotel, means you are subject to NSW quarantine requirements before heading onwards to Queensland. Remember the story of the lady who did the same thing in Melbourne earlier this year? So allow for hotel quarantine in Sydney, which won’t be Rydges!

Can book a private air BandB or similar for a couple of nights I understand.

I had the opposite. Actually did arrive in SA but never received the txt asking me to confirm. Person I’m traveling with had been bombarded. Left hand/right hand 🙄

Just got another text 😀. My pass expired days ago.

I see that SA Health have now listed a further two QF flights as exposure sites with passengers in rows 11-15 on both being considered to be close contacts which means 7 days isolation. Do any of the SA-based contributors know if affected passengers are being contacted by SA Health to inform them of their status and obligations? Or is it self-reporting system?

I was planning to go to SA in the New Year, but if this is the approach then I will just get my points back (again).

It’s both. Contact may, or may not arrive. I’d have expected they would have manifest and seat but that doesn’t always seem to be the case. So if impacted it’s test and isolate I guess on your own action as of now.
