Autumn colours in Japan + coughtails by the pool in Fiji

To catch up the last couple of days, one was a shopping day (Christmas is coming!) and we also went to TeamLab Borderless a digital art installation thing. Absolutely amazing. Would recommend checking it out.

Then yesterday we went to Tokyo Disneyland which of course was a massive day. We could have spent an extra day here to really see everything. But we put in a good effort to prioritise. The longest line was for the Beauty and the Beast ride, but I loved the ride. If the line wasn't so long I'd have gone again.

We also squeezed in an evening afternoon tea at the vampire cafe, a themed restaurant which was a lot of fun.

Today's our last day in Tokyo, we leave this afternoon for Fiji. So once we pack, I think we'll wander Ginza, as it's right nearby and we haven't explored there yet.

We are safely at Narita airport. Conveniently we were able to take one train from the nearby Shimbashi station. Made it easy to get to the airport.

Unfortunately neither Cathay Pacific or the JAL Sakura lounge took us in. Fiji Airways must not be on the list. Oh well, there's a nice Japanese food hall in the terminal so we'll get a delicious lunch anyway.

Boarding in about an hour! Looks like we'll get classic tropical wet season weather in Fiji, but that won't stop us from enjoying our stay there.

Man those Kyoto photos with all the people.. not nice! Interestingly I was just in Kyoto a few days ago (but not in any tourist areas) and it was really quite nice when you don't do the main tourist things

Yes, we visited some quieter areas and it was great. Where we were staying was away from the tourist hustle and bustle.

Made it to Fiji! Sometime after I booked our flights got changed to an overnight flight, so I rebooked to drop a day, knowing that we'd likely not get access to a room til later in the day. But I'd confirmed we'd be able to drop bags and enjoy the resort anyway.

Instead, we rock up around 530am, exhausted with minimal sleep, and the manager says he's going to juggle some rooms around so we could get access earlier. Definitely not expected, but very appreciated. We headed over to the beach club we had access to (it opened at 6) and settled in to nap and enjoy lying by the pool.

By 8am we were in our room! I was blown away by this gesture which wasn't necessary given how early we'd arrived, so was sold on this place within a few hours. We are very likely to be back one day!

Anywhere north of Nijo dori should be quiet...
I have my list of places to go obviously 😉

Had a delicious dinner last night, after a rum tasting and a coughtail/canape thing. I think I'm undoing all the walking in Japan with eating and lounging.

I'd forgotten I'd mentioned we were celebrating our 40ths this year with this trip when I booked. So when they brought out a dessert for me and sung Happy Birthday (it has THREE verses here) we were so confused and quite embarrassed. Haha. Three verses is a looong time.

But we're highly enjoying our time here. With Accor Plus we get 25% off certain restaurants here which is nice.

We literally went to Sofitel Denarau in July this year, and were in Japan last year - so we can relate - amazing experiences. Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea are amazing. We did visit HK Disneyland this year, and can recommend that too actually.

Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday you and yours @Drakecula 🎉
