Avianca LifeMiles – Bookings and Discussion

Thanks for sharing. This doesn't seem to search all routes, but I can certainly see that it would be useful for finding non-stop flights on specific common routes that the tool tracks.
No it doesn’t but the person is still adding routes and is open to suggestions so it will only improve over time. The routes list has increased already in the last 48hrs. Currently only seeing 30-45 days out but they’ve eluded to the possibility of extending that.

Thanks for the share! I've already begun building a private search function in Google Cloud using that "availability" api.

Hi;
Has anyone booked with Avianca LifeMiles using a Star Alliance member for flights within Australia?

Trying to Fly CNS Cairns to PER Perth in business class

Or how many LifeMiles would it be?
Cheers

There is no star alliance member in Australia so not possible.

Hi;
Thanks I’m new at this, I saw a few names like Air Canada and Air Nz

Do you know if its possible to transfer Avianca LifeMiles to somewhere they could be used for flights in Australia please?

Cheers

No but if you do not intend using them for the limited international routes that are available you can use for hotels. If you haven't already acquired the miles I wouldn't ATM given limited options.

Hi;
Thank you for that, I was mistaken in thinking I could use Avianca LifeMiles (AM) to book Air Canada or Air Nz flights in Australia using AM, which is still a lot cheaper for us, than paying full price up here

New Offer; did anyone else receive this AM today to; Buy Miles Today and get up to 150% Bonus miles

Cheers

Yeah… the 150% bonus offers are pretty much monthly. But unless you have identified an actual award, with availability, i don’t think these are a good deal at the moment. Availability transatlantic is very good between USA and Europe… but elsewhere in the world it’s pretty limited or non-existent. Economy class out of Australia is ok… which… looking at the current prices of paid tickets might start to make LM look semi attractive.

Hi Mel;
I didn’t know that, thanks.
We are in a bit of different suction to others, in that we only get very short notice to fly and internally around Australia, so rewards seats are never available. So we try to use buying cheap points to book normal business class seats
Last time with points CNS to BNE J class cost us using points around au$601.00 at that time seats cost au$961.00 J class

Cheers

If you primarily want to book domestic flights, have a look at Etihad Guest (for VA flights) or British Airways Executive Club (for short Qantas flights).

Has anyone booked BNE-TPE J with Eva air?? Never flown Eva but the reviews look good.

Also is there a chance it is phantom availability? I saw a post on flyertalk where someone couldn't book after buying points. I'm 12,000 LM short so would need to buy some in their next sale.

Have heard good things about Eva Air in J. You might get lucky and get the Hello Kitty plane.

Early June and late May 2023.
Also though you can't access LM if you are using a VPN.

I wouldn’t trust LM availability at the moment. 5c a point is very high… but they have sliding scale for top ups. The ‘sweet point’ for top ups is about 1.5 US cents per point, which is applicable from around 42% of the award. Any more points than that will start to get charged a much higher rate.

From memory it should be 55k points for the one way BNE-TPE.

Pre covid EVA air probably had one of the best business classes out there. Vintage champagne (La Grande Dame) as standard, PJs as standard. Reverse herringbone seats.

Dunno how they are post covid.

I wouldn’t be buying points speculatively. I might consider buying points to get me to the 42% sweet spot, with the ability to top up for 1.5c per point at checkout.
