Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Has anyone noticed that the question was posted on the "USDM" thread, but all answers refer to LifeMiles?? To answer the actual question, there is only a few more hours left in the life of USDM as an Star Alliance member, so no point in reading this very long thread. May I suggest the OP start reading the LifeMiles thread.

I don't follow hossein. Has the post been move to this thread? I thought it was always here in the LM thread..

My bad... subject line reads "US Dividend Miles Buy...", but it is indeed in the LifeMiles thread... now I'm puzzled!!!

Someone has quoted a USDM post, or one has been moved from there by a mod. That can throw out the ongoing thread title, however it still shows correctly in any lists of threads such as searches, or subscriptions.

I have replied to a post upthread that had the correct title to get it back on track.

You don't credit anymore flights to Aegean now do you? Once you get *G you credit back to your preferred program?

I don't actually fly *A ever, and so don't have a preferred program! The Thai flights were my first and only return *A trip so far. Now that I have Aviance I might as well credit to that, as it seems I will redeem through them.

An issue- I can't see any connecting flights from Perth. I have tried many combinations over most of the latter half of the year and can get TG J availabilty PER-BKK and BKK onwards, for example, but cannot get the engine to give me the trip together. Am I doing something wrong?

Nope. That's just the way it is. If the connection is longer than about 8 hours the option will not be offered. Not online. Not on the phone.

This happens for me too. From what I can tell, the only time you can possibly secure a complete J Perth-asia-europe trip is with Singapore Airlines and only within 14 days of travel date. At all other times you'll be able to see availability from Perth-asia and asia-onwards, but it won't string them together for you.

You could choose to redeem as two separate sectors, but I've found it far more economical to fly the quick hop PER-SIN on Scoot, then pick up an Avianca J redemption from there. Scoot is budget and the planes of theirs I've been on are a bit stinky, but tolerable and more roomy than J* or AirAsia. And at only $150, I can accept that and just look forward to a shower in the Krisflyer lounge afterwards. :)

Ah, ok, that's good to know at least, even if it does suck! The odd thing is it offers these connections in Y still?

Anyone who flies from PER able to list a few cities in EU and Japan that can actually be done on a single ticket with LM? Right now it seems that BKK is pretty much the main option for anything more than 14 days out in J as SQ doesn't release availability, generally.
On the reading front, up to pages 19 and 43, so about halfway through!

Well, I am new to AFF and was wondering if anyone knows if you could get from SYD/MEL to Bollywood for less miles than the charts show? I am searching but do not have any breakthrough yet..

5. Have a search for availability to Nepal on United.com or ANA or even Lifemiles.com

Don't waste time searching on other airlines availability. Just go straight to their own website and the rule is if you can't see it on their site, you can't book it. So what you see, is what you can get.

I think this is what you're looking for.
Ha, I think milesmoney wants the benefits without putting in the effort, reading that FT thread can be extremely confusing even when you know basically what they are on about!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Had another great flight from FRA in F with LH thanks to Lifemiles. Took the Porsche experience again but this time 'only' received a brand new Boxster - followed a pre-programmed route this time rather than just going flat out up and down the autobahn & enjoyed the trip especially as the weather was warm enough to drop the hood.

We flew on the 747-8 for the first time which had a different configuration to the 747-4 that I flew back in Jan - both very comfortable flights with 50% loading in F. If i had to choose though i would go for the 747-4.

We landed in ICN which i thought was a fantastic airport, although after spending 5 hours on a 'free' city tour provided by the airport, I wouldnt rush back to spend more time in Seoul. Our trip back to SYD in J with OZ, which, although went well the hard product was a little dated especially considering there was no AVOD - not that it mattered too much as we were both shattered & slept for half of the flight.

Well, I am not asking for specifics. Just asking if it can be done ;). I am right now putting effort on reading  though..

It makes sense to use united.com because:

1. LM won't display options with long connections
2. LM won't display mixed awards.
3. LM can ask you to put CAPTCHA in after too many searches (I haven't experience this myself personally).

So it's not a total waste of time, if one wants to book mixed awards and/or long connections it would be much simpler to determine availability on united.com and then go to LM to book,.

I don't think there is a 'trick' to get to India for less than the chart. 3X or otherwise.
