re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Cost wise, no. (Except if you cancel / change the whole lot).

For those wanting to try for SQ travel both ways, it becomes necessary to book one-ways due to J seats to and from Australia only being released 14 days before departure.

Cost wise its $25 usd more to book two one ways

For anyone interested: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....s-europe-melbourne-2-x-63075.html#post1116774

Happy to make Paypal payment for anyone that can assist with finding tickets.

If I have to enter in another LM captcha code, I'm going to go crazy.

I'm not finding anything :( , double checked all the ones you mentioned and even tried MXP, CPH and DUS. (searching for up to a week after the 28th)

Had a quick look as well for flights just from Asia back home - ex BKK, KUL or SIN - again nothing (with the thought you could take a cheap $1000 business class fare from Europe to Asia).

Hopefully someone else will have more luck!

It's worth noting that this could be a problem if you're required to show proof of onward travel at check-in.

Thanks for your effort.

I've also had a look at arriving in either Sydney or Adelaide and no flights available there either. Still ~10 days left so really hoping something comes up.

Hmmmm... that's a good point. Actually many countries require this, and it is checked either at check-in or at the border once you arrive.

How have people accounted for this? I imagine you could perhaps book a fully refundable international fare (or train ticket, and hope it is not far away so you're not locking away too much cash).

Last time I just booked an el-cheapo FR flight ; cost me $15 or something. In the end I didn't need it anyway as they never checked ...

It's not just immigration, many insurances will also require a return ticket for coverage (ANZ cards for example).

Qantas/jetstar require a return ticket to Australia (or other country of residence) if you are flying to Asia as another twist. An onwards ticket out of your initial arrival point is not enough (for example flying QF to bangkok they require proof of an eventual return to Australia rather than an onwards ticket to say Singapore).

What about LO from Warsaw to Beijing and then to air China?

This is the norm, but on my two most recent QF departures to BKK I did OLCI and somehow bypassed this requirement. I was not even required to show my passport, other than at SYD immigration of course.
I was expecting a red light at the boarding gate, but it never happened.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Does anyone have tips/tricks to get LM to show certain flight? I'm well aware what LM shows is what you get but thinking there might be a way...

I am trying to get MEL-BKK-CTU-CAN on 12/13th Oct. I can get MEL-BKK-CTU but not that last leg. It shows on United and connection aren't more than 6hrs so wondering if anyone has a tip or two?

You can try altering the departure time field. I've had flight options magically appear doing that.

God tip, but how do you all have the patience to try these permutations? The site takes so long to refresh. When you don't get a hit the first few attempts it's almost time for lunch.

No such thing as a free lunch :)

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Thanks for the suggestion guys, couldn't get it to work so have booked just the MEL-BKK leg for now and will grab a Y fare into CAN.

In other news interesting seat map... ( I know it's TG but hadn't seen this before)

Patience is a virtue. If you really want it bad enough, it's the price you pay. I think in sport they call it 'unrewarded running'. :)

As for the quickest way to modify the search, if there's nothing available in the one-week window of my search I click the previous and next buttons to check the weeks either side. If still nothing, I start again by hovering over the 'Enjoy' tab at the top of the page and wait for the popup menu, choose 'air tickets', click 'ok' to navigate away from the current page back to the search screen. Then I start on my favourite travel date and modify the departure time field, and repeat repeatedly.

I assumed that's what everyone else does too!

Yep. it is a slog, but the benefits outweigh the time spent IMHO.

I can't begin to explain the permutations I tried before I found FCO-MUC-FRA-IAD LH J just to get the 748.

it's the standard seat map for TG's own 77Ws - 2 class, with flat seats in a staggered arrangement for business. Preferred seats are the window seats, giving a buffer between you and the aisle.

The seats are reportedly somewhat short in length, so side-sleeping may be the order of the day. EF seats are cosy for a couple, but not something you would want to share with a stranger.
