re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Made my first booking with surprising ease. SYD-PEK-CDG, one way, over Christmas so I was impressed with availability. Just under 1500USD in total.

I received an email overnight which I can sort of comprehend as some kind of first booking promo (it's in Spanish) but can't make out specifics. Can anyone enlighten me?

Well done on the 1st booking.

Have you tried copying & paste onto translate.google.com for the translation?

Crazy! Flights have now changed back to 747! Of course if you were previously donwgraded to J...you're still there!

It has changed back to showing as 747 on my booking as well - though the previous F booking is still showed as "cancelled"... Do they normally reinstate your previous class of booking or you have to ring AV of that?

F available on the reinstated 747 is showing as zero on KVS - I suspect this swap has not been finalised yet...

Same, I have a TG F SYD-BKK (and return) booking now showing as 744, EF shows 0 in all F classes and seatmap shows 4 seats blocked the the rest available. Mind you this is a USDM booking, but I think the principle is the same.

At least with USDM it should be a fairly straight forward procedure to change it back to F when seats are released.

Would be much easier for USDM for sure.

I will email AV as soon as the seats are released back.

I hope so - I will probably need to contact TG again to change J seats back to F.
How are you checking for award space - EF doesn't have alerts for TG F awards?
Unless you are manually searching for it (United website)?

As discussed in another thread it looks like tickets might have already been reissued for 'I' class. In this case TG can only help by freeing up an award seat in F if none are available. The respective award program will then need to revalidate the ticket asap. Without a revalidation it is almost certainly unlikely TG will carry in any other class than what they have been paid.

I must have missed the other thread - can you please link to it?
FWIW my USDM F booking was initially J (on the SYD-BKK leg), then changed to F (after I called to rectify the obvious disconnect they made), then now J. This current J is just me looking at my booking on the TG website; USDM have not reissued any ticket to me yet.

If you were on a previous F flight which was downgraded to J, it is more than likely USDM would have revalidated the ticket for J class.

That seems to have been going on for a while - took nearly 2 months (6 phone calls) to get a cancellation finalised from the end of June. In the end they called me to finally sort it.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Well the peak time travel is not helping. That said, I just did random searches for two Business Class seats leaving a couple of European ports going to Melbourne within the next couple of days, and there's availability indeed! And no, it's not all on TG, though cutting out TG from your searches will naturally reduce your options.

If you have any more demands on top of that, then again your options will reduce considerably and/or you will increase the cost of your journey.

Given the season and also that the redemption is for two people, I'm surprised myself that there are seats available anyway, and so close to today.

Still struggling to find flights. Found a TG flight out of Rome but it's not suitable. Our deadline is essentially the end of this month, so I guess I'll keep looking.

It genuinely is very difficult to even find reasonable flights. Never going the 2 x one way route again. SQ perhaps out of Melbourne T-14 is possible, as per my experience is impossible out of Europe. At the moment even TG is fine.

Hope we don't get stuck overseas and have to go economy or something.

So your deadline is you have to get out by the end of the month, and you're almost prepared to go from anywhere in continental Europe? Where is your closest airport and can you pack up and go at almost any time?

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience with booking Air Canada through LM ?
I made a booking and almost immediately got ticketed and both me and my wife have ticket numbers as per checkmytrip yet on AC's MMB the reservation number is not being recognised ?
Is this standard for LM bookings ? Do I need to give it more time and then check again perhaps tomorrow or the day after ?
The main reason I wanted to MMB was to select seats; or with AC can this only be done by phone ?

Thanks

I think you can only select seats on AC via the phone. AC's website seems to only be capable of handling AC bookings issued on its own stock. In my case I ended up calling them.

Is there a difference between 2x one ways or a return?

Cost wise, no. (Except if you cancel / change the whole lot).

For those wanting to try for SQ travel both ways, it becomes necessary to book one-ways due to J seats to and from Australia only being released 14 days before departure.
