re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

How many tickets did you need to make that?

If this entire itinerary fit onto one ticket then that must be an uber trick...
Two, BKK-MXP on one (could have done SYD-BKK-MXP but taking *O to KUL instead) and FCO-x-IAD the other.

So not that special, it just took a bit to find the availability I needed.

So what's the consensus - if im not planning travel in the immediate future - but say in a year or so, is it still worthwhile to purchase the points with Avianca? Would look to fly from Aus to Europe or vice versa.
Also - is the promotion open to new members - ie can I set up a new account and buy 75k miles in my account which I set up a month ago and 75k in the new account and end up with 2 lots of 150k ?

The cost of miles is due to go up 10% soon, so you will have to weigh up getting them now cheap but having the $ tied up vs waiting for the next promo at a slightly dearer rate.

Just topped up another 300,000 (two accounts) :))

Looking forward to some price reductions with the new award redemptions in October

But come October, Australia is in the sweet spot for Lifemiles redemptions and many redemptions from Australia/NZ will require FEWER miles under the new chart then now!!!

Whilst I wouldn't say 'many', I agree there will be some better redemptions to take advantage of. ;)

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Agreed.

North Asia screams to me (China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan)

South Asia is also better value (Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia etc)

Europe/Hawaii is 2-3% cheaper in J

Cheers,

I seem to remember someone did a comparison between the two but can't find it?

Any ideas on $$ difference with the new chart.

Didn't somebody on here already do a $$ comparison and post it ?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Yeah that's what I'm trying to find. :)

Nothing from page 240 onwards, must be from before that.
Try and look before page 240 if you get a chance, if not I will take a look later on when I have more time.
I'm also keen to find it.

Everyone's page numbers might be different as you can set to display more than the standard 10 posts or whatever it is, probably best to quote post numbers when looking like that.

I've checked from post #2391 onwards.

For anyone thinking 2 one way tickets beats a return, since you have the chance of getting a SQ business, I can confirm that it's very difficult or impossible. We used the 2 one way system and are having great difficulty getting a good business class seat out of Rome, Paris, Istanbul, Frankfurt or Athens to Melbourne for the next month+.

SQ J to/from AU is only released at T-14.

I have found it easier to find availability and book one-ways. I have never been able to put a return itinerary together with LifeMiles - either leg would show as not available - whereas I have been able to get the dates I wanted by booking one-ways.
This year I've booked 2 o-w for wife and son (2 seats) (Aus-Asia and back) and 3 for me (one seat) Aus-Asia and back using TG, SQ and OZ. I couldn't book any using return journeys. Timing seems to be more important.
