re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I'm trying to find Availability from either HKG or BKK back to Australia and the site keeps throwing up error messages. Always used to show availability. And the one time it didn't throw up an error it show no availability even in y.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

So it says you can purchase at most 75,000 in a transaction, but no more than 150,000 in a year.
Does that mean you can make two transactions of 75,000 each and take advantage of this offer ?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I find the search engine very restrictive. Sure evryone says there are work arounds but I haven;t found them. Reults take a minute or more to display....waiting, waiting....and then it only displays five days at a view. If there is availability for outgoing and not return, when you refresh the dates for the return, the outgoing availability disappears. Every time you need to wait whilst the page refreshes, never knowing if the lucky-dip that is Lifemiles will return with a result or an error message. I simply don't have this amount of time in my day...:(

Unfortunately no. They count the bonus miles as part of the total so you will only be able to purchase 75,000 with the 75,000 bonus to total your 150,000 limit for the year.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Noticed a schedule change on a booking for TG461 BKK-MEL in January (and all of winter timetable I think)...looks like it departs BKK an hour later than originally planned. Operating aircraft is still listed as 777-200/300 in 2-2-2 seating config so it's looking more and more likely that MEL has lost its 77W service for W14 timetable. :(

That's probably why SYD-BKK is showing 77W in my booking in Jan 15

Yeah, you could probably say it's gone to SYD instead...although TG continues to take delivery of 77Ws...I think they have 11 now? What always bugs me is that TG is sending consistent 77Ws to Scando markets where it's selling half the J cabin as full flat bed premium economy product, yet where it's sold as business you get the older product! I guess they've done the sums and the yields on that PE product are better than a J cabin full of award pax!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I read on ausbt a couple of days ago that Thais spokesperson told them they expected to continue 777 in Q2 2015. Yesterday I ended up getting first class from FCO - SYD in April when BKK - SYD is still showing 747. (Totally forgot about equipment change after finishing a bottle of red wine) The cost difference between First and Business is about $AU280 and I still get First on FCO - BKK.

Not sure if I was stupid paying more for only 1 first class flight or if I should be happy to enjoy 1 first class flight for only $280 extra. Now praying they put 747 back.

I would have kept my booking SYD-BKK-LHR IF the downgrade had occurred to 77W on the night time sector. As it stands, the F class component of the flight will be midnight to 6AM when I feel I'd be just as well in business class.

I'll likely cancel my booking and hope to get LM to waive the $50. Plan B is MEL-AUH-LHR on EY in J which is logistically much better for me anyway.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Finally took the plunge into lifemiles!! Using 2for1 offer and points and pay option, booked MEL-BKK 26dec-jan3 on TG for $1715 rtn! Im happy with that! Bit finicky filling out online form for miles purchase and award redemption. AMex sent SMS querying first purchase, but all else flowed thru. and TG website already showing booking references and updated seat allocations there.

So after months of lurking, and hours of trawling the site, thank yous go out to one and all for the info provided. It is very complex and daunting, but with time i got the hang of it and the nerve. Now about that flight to europe next june....

In case anyone missed the thread in UA forum, for SEA routes, UA promo reached 100% bonus. You grab 30k for $USD1128 and get 30k bonus.

Would be cheapest rtn J flight to South East Asia ie BKK less than $AU1400 including tax and fee which is a couple hundred bucks cheaper than Lifemiles.

Less than 7 hours to take the offer. Buy award miles and receive up to 100% bonus miles

The only catch being that getting 100% bonus you'll need to sign up 16 friends for the promotion and they must buy the points before your get your bonus

There's always a catch

Yes did my homework and got J.

Off to read about TG aircraft swaps for aussie ports, to see if there is an certainty aircraft to be used.
