re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Maybe, maybe not. BKK-NRT is one of Thai's most premium high revenue routes so is one of the harder ones to get multiple premium class seats on.

Thanks for that. Does TG have a habit of opening up space t-14/7 like SQ?

not really.

TG has an initial allocation of seats. these will be released, two at a time, until the initial allocation is exhausted.

if if you book one or two seats, and no more appear (this happens pretty much instantly), you will know the initial allocation is out. (the known exception to this are Toyko flights in first class, where there is just a single seat up for grabs)

however, TG continues to monitor their flights, and will release seats on a random basis. This includes, in some cases, right up until departure and may even include flights which are 'full'.

last year I saw a FRA flight with F2A2O2... so with just two seats left in F they were willing to give both of those as awards.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I can't find syd-hkg in first even at the furthest time out for 2 pax

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I think it might be due to the layover time ?

Possibly. Skyscanner for one random date shows one with a layover time of 2'45" but after that its 9 hours.

Might search more dates later to see if its ever available

The one with short layover may not have F.

The transit in BKK exceeds the 6hours that is allowed on LM and many are mixed-class bookings which again is not allowed.

If you want a long'ish transit (and I prefer those), then you can book using UA miles.

Are you just making things up? 6 hours is not the limit

I got the 5000 bonus on 2 December - and the following day it was reversed!!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Nope, my understanding is that LM will not show any flights where transits exceed 6 hours.

There is some rule about long transits it seems, but it is definitely not a "hard" 6 hours. I have a booking with LM for an upcoming TG flight SYD-BKK-FRA in F, where I am arriving into BKK at 16:20 and departing at 23:45. Layover is 7 hrs 25 mins.

It's more like 8 hours...and then it is not uniform...I've seen UA-UA transits at > 12hrs, even overnight!

Cool. Just for my curiousity, did you book this online as is? or was it because you had booked something earlier, then an infamous TG schedule change (like the removal of the afternoon flight that gets into BKK around 10pm), causing you to have a longer transit than the 6 hours?

Ok, I've always worked/relied/believed on the 6 hour transit rule. There's a (hidden) rule out there I guess :)

Was available online like this. Was surprised myself, it seems rather rare on the SYD to FRA route, 9 out of 10 times it will be the 14:40 service TG472 which neatly connects to the FRA overnight service TG920.

Yes quite right, its never been 6 hours.... don't know where that figure has come from.

I recently had an 8 hour transit through bangkok myself

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I have worked out problem with Syd - BKK _Hong Kong is that the connecting flight from BKK to Hong Kong does not have F, nad if you take the afternoon flight from Syd it exceeds 8 hour transit rule. Never mind can do it in reverse
