re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Does Thai fly F out of Melbourne/Bne at all?

The only airline that provides F service to BNE is EK at the moment. From Jun 15, EY will also provide F service. Other than these 2 oil rich airline, nothing else to BNE.

More than happy to be corrected.

And the only airline that has a F lounge - QF

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

just a heads-up... seems something fishy is going on with the LM booking engine at the moment.

All flights to Asia are coming back 'unavailable' for complete weeks. I have tried SIN/HKG/ICN/PEK/PVG. Yesterday there were dozens of flights open, on both SQ and TG. Today there is nothing. (United is continuing to show TG flights - including those with connection times suitable for LM to have returned a result.)

Guess it will sort out.

Was checking flights MEL-SIN-CAN yesterday from next week and was good availability... Need to be there next weekend and back the week later. Time to see if I can use USDM however MH seems to have tightened up award availability!

I am having the same problem doing dummy bookings on TG in F SYD-BKK-PVG.
Maybe it is because there is no F BKK-PVG although I have not checked on this yet.

there's no F any more to PVG. There might have been (even recently - or maybe that was PEK?).

That aside, can you even bring up availability in any class as far as BKK?

I can't get anything at all. Looks like a wait and see approach is best.

Edit: Can see MEL-BKK J on the 14th

A lot of availability in J but I was hoping that +1 and I could have taken our first F flight.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

hmmm... seems to be some issue with selected flights for TG/SQ for next week. I can find an OZ ticket exSYD to ICN. But I'm not finding anything that was widely available yesterday.

I can't even find AI ex DEL into Asia today - yesterday it was wide open.

Searched for TG MEL-BKK J on 12/12...came up available every day in the 5 day range 10/12-14/12.

thanks. I'm now finding the TG to BKK.

but searches for next week MEL-SIN-PVG (yesterday there were four flights a day) are still coming up with nothing. strange. (same with MEL-BKK-PVG - nothing, and yesterday the connections with TG were there - and UA.com is showing the TG connections with a few hours layover in BKK)

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

After doing my points purchases this week, now is the time to look at burning them!

Was counting on TG MEL to europe but wouldnt you know it ..... qantas came thru with a QR award SIN to EDI which was my final destination! 787 all the way to EDI... not bad i say. Never thought i would be able to get rid of them!

Now I'm looking at using lifemiles to get me from europe to canada July 2015, then canada back to melbourne. quick look at search engine is returning decent offerings on air canada out of europe.

anybody have any experiences with using lifemiles out of europe to the americas?
Is there any first class awards offered?
what is the chance of a swiss or austrian award?
Are there any loose rules around the appearance of luftansa awards?
Any good hardware to look for? (i see Air Canada has new 787, so will be hunting down those routes).

Then there is the segment north american to home.....

im reading asiana first class is the prize here!? ANA?
And good old ANZ ... anybody score a air new zealand award on lifemiles?

ps... i also lost my 5,000 cyber bonus points.....

first class is available on united.

beware of Lufthansa business class as it may be the old angled bed.

swiss and austrian - you need to search for those and see what comes up.

usa-australia - I'd take UA F if you can get it. Followed by their business class. Non-stop will save you about 10 hours of your time.

otherwise OZ F is good, as is ANA. There is even Air China F.

you can also score SQ from the states to singapore.

asia back to home I'd recommend Air China business class. Avoid OZ for the angled beds.

I'm pretty sure Air New zealand is out of the picture on non-stops USA-NZ. UA F is better anyway.
