Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

What would be the best flights for an F redemption to and from Australia to Japan?
ie which cities in Australia (I am presuming eastern seaboard only for direct flights), and are there particular flights that have the first cabin only?
And which cities in Japan - again I am presuming Tokyo would be best bet, but am wondering if there are others that would also work.
TIA

there is only one F cabin available for LM awards... TG ex SYD.

And I think from BKK to Japan, TG only operates F to Tokyo.

Simple. Only TG from SYD. But it's all blocked at the moment.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Looks like Asiana is still wide open. Guess I'll use it for a trip to NYC. The layover time was over 8 hours in ICN anyway so I would have to use 2 separate tickets. J SYD-ICN, and F ICN to JFK! That would be the best way to burn my stack of LM and that will be it for me. (Assuming the issue is not just a temporary glitch.)

why assume anything? This sort of thing has happened before, only a couple of months ago in fact

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Just checked a phantom J SIN>LHR for *A in December on Awardnexus and it came back with SQ/TG via BKK. Checked LifeMiles and the same awards showed up. I think the SQ issue is SQ based and not LM based.

LH available too.

If you force select "Singapore Airlines", rather than "Smart Search (multiple airlines)" it seems to work fine for me, at least for a direct flight to/from Singapore.

The return flight JFK-SYD can be booked in one ticket if you don't mind J all the way.
Hopefully OZ will upgrade their service to SYD sometime next year.

LH available too.

Have you checked further dates out? But as I suspected it was SQ, now they want to give the award spaces to velocity members who can now transfer points to KF. So they simply closed all A380/77W J awards to partners.

Direct flight AUS-BKK not a problem. Or even BKK to wherever is no problem. But when you combine the 2, then there is problem. That's why I suspect TG is only glitch. But SQ is gone for good.

What dates and destination/origin? Definitely I can't find any SQ long haul to/from SIN on the A380/77W with the good business class. I'm afraid now that LM only have access to award spaces like other *A partners.

I know. SYD-LAX you can book both ways. But who knows how long it will last.

EVA used to be wide open but in Sept they blocked all awards to/fro BNE without warning, while space to Europe and US is still pretty decent. It seems that every airline hates us in Australia.

yes but - I have a little hope here - even economy is 'sold out' on all dates ex MEL - which shouldn't be the case, even for partners.

Did you write to LM? Hopefully they'll fix it. I just got a couple of friends to join and max out on miles. And they're planning to use SQ :(

I did. Just waiting for reply. But that's for TG only, as we can't check SQ availability on either united or ANA website. So if SQ really blocked it, there is nothing we can do about it.

If it's under the permitted connection time I don't see any reason to worry about it.

I don't have access to ANA anymore - but doesn't it show SQ economy?

I'll write to LM on the SQ then.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

So is all SQ J inventory ex-MEL blocked now? There used to be available J seats on nearly every departure 14 days out up until a few days ago. Now there's nothing in the next 14 days-- an barely anything in Y.
