Re: Avianca Transfer Miles promo (of course you need some miles to start with)

Tried a dummy booking on LM. PER-BKK-FRA-LHR. Cant seem to be able to find a F award, only J. On AwardTravelr, there is PER-BKK (J). BKK-FRA (F), FRA-LHR (J).

End of June 13
The online booking engine will not show mixed class awards...you'd have to try your luck with the call centre.

and even then I've heard people say they've been told not possible. you may have to book a PER-BKK and then a BKK-FRA in F then buy a ticket to LHR, or just buy BKK-LHR direct in F. For this award it might be better with USDM

But with USDM I cant make a one way reservation right? :(

Also, I would need 170k miles for PER-BKK-FRA-LHR. But with a 75k promo its only 150k miles.

On the LM page its quoting me $30/usd per 1k miles. Is that right? Read on previous pages was $15/usd per 1k?

anyone else had an issue with tickets and names?

I just redeemed an air canada flight YUL > LAX and when inputting the passenger details i had to select MR, MRS or MSS.... now the ticket has issued as: JennyMSS Jennison instead of Jenny Jennison but mine has issued as Billy Beaverson ... am i going to have a nightmare trying to get on this flight? checkmytrip shows passenger as Jenny MSS Jennison

these arent real names btw lol.... other than his hiccup, the whole process of buying miles and processing was very, very simple.

did you own a LM account prior to the promo commencing? if not then you are not eligible for the promo. It will show $30 per 1000 miles either way, but there will be a section showing bonus miles too which will be 1,000 per block of 1,000.

and yes USDM is round trip only

If you were a member prior to 3 September then make sure that you use the correct link for buying more miles after you have logged in. It can be found here: https://www.lifemiles.com/eng/tra/pro/proofeinf.aspx?D=DOF24

It's been mentioned on this thread and elsewhere long ago to sign up in advance of these promos 'just in case'. it has always been how lifemiles operates in terms of bonus miles. existing accounts only.

Only discovered this threads lately.

Does a new promo start straight away after this one ends?

Not really for AV. However they do have buy 1 get 1 free promo in the past, I won't be surprised if they do this again anytime soon. DM is also on sale now, little bit expensive but does a great job.

as already pointed out they won't have another promotion soon. They run on average about 2 times a year, so maybe another 5 months before the next one.

Is that for the 100% bonus? or all bonuses?

Re: Avianca Transfer Miles promo (of course you need some miles to start with)

Hi Canne

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, I have been waiting for the charges to come thru on the cc. The exchange rate on Friday when I made the booking was 105.8 and the charge on the card is 102.5, so that is the 3% diff only. So all in all not to bad.

you shouldn't have a problem... i just completed a lifemiles redemption on OZ metal with the 'mss' affixed to my name and didn't face any issues at check in. hope that helps!

Yes you are quite right dazz81. I have my heart set on 7 economy Oneworld awards. I just hope that Qantas does not go belly up too soon....

Re: Avianca Transfer Miles promo (of course you need some miles to start with)

After quite a bit of deliberation - as I have no immediate need for them - I've decided to take advantage of the current 100% bonus and buy enough LifeMiles for a return F trip anywhere in the world.

From the award chart it looks like the highest priced return F awards originating in Australia ("Others" category) are 200,000 LifeMiles (to Europe and Northern / Southern Africa) (https://www.lifemiles.com/eng/inc/starredawards.aspx). This figure doesn't, however, take into account the reduction in miles needed when using the "points + cash" option during a booking.

Does anyone know, or understand the mechanics of LifeMiles points + cash well enough to explain, how many LifeMiles would actually be needed for a minimum points / maximum cash redemption that would normally cost 200,000 LifeMiles return?

Also, does anyone know if LifeMiles expire, and if so, after how long / can they be extended (for a fee) / can you keep them active by just buying a few extra miles?

Thanks!
