re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I've also seen availability from SYD...

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I can see SQ J availability on regional J A330 from ADL and BNE, and 777-300(non ER) from MEL - 2-2-2 angled bed looks the same as VA new A330 J.

I thought the only non A380 SQ into MEL was a 77W?

No. 2xA380 and 1x773 refurb.

In recent times it has changed semi-frequently, presumably based on demand and aircraft availability.

Having 2x388s works very well for me, as they are on the sectors I fly (I only tend to use 3 of the 6 flights) - I regularly take SQ218, SQ228 & SQ227, but rarely any of the others (SQ238, SQ217, SQ237).

Looks like people are phishing for Lifemiles accounts:

The security of the information and miles in your account is a very high priority for us. Over time, many measures have been implemented to protect your account security. To best ensure the security of your account however, we need to work together. Accordingly, please read and follow the following “best practices” in helping us keep your information and your miles as safe as possible:
  • Do not open e-mails from unknown senders; delete them immediately
  • Any legitimate email from LifeMiles will come from one of the following domains:@mail-lifemiles.com and @lifemiles.com. We suggest you add these domains to the authorized domains of your email account
  • If you click on a link in an email that does not take you directly to a trusted source, then do not provide any solicited information and close the web page
  • LifeMiles will never ask you to send any personal information via email. If you receive an email asking you to respond with information such as: Username, PIN, Password or credit card numbers, we highly recommend that you do not comply
  • Create a secure password for your LifeMiles.com account. Secure passwords have at least 8 characters, and combine letters and numbers
  • Don’t share your LifeMiles password with anyone
  • Change your password periodically
  • Try not to use the same password for different electronic accounts (email, banks, LifeMiles, social media, etc.)
  • Do not use passwords that can be easily guessed, such as your house number, birth date, telephone number, or your identification number
  • Regularly check your LifeMiles transactions. You can easily do this on LifeMiles.com. If you see something you don’t recognize, please get in touch with us via [email protected]
  • Make sure your computer’s antivirus software and virus definitions are up to date
Your miles are valuable; please help us protecting them by putting the above suggestions into practice.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I know we have the award cost tables for both USDM and LM and Im not sure if people are ever still interested in LM (??) but I did a complete $ cost comparison between the 2 programs for each destination region from Australia, because USDM usually requires less miles, but LMs cost less to buy. I was interested to see if there was much difference in costs between the 2 programs on any particular routes. Obviously there are huge differences between how the 2 programs work but if you are just after the lowest price you might want to know the difference.

This was done in the way most people here would ideally purchase their miles - all USDM miles were bought with a 100% buy bonus (i.e. a Europe redemption would have to be bought over 2 promo periods) and all LMs bought during a similar 100% buy bonus, with max cash min points selected when booking. I didn't include taxes and I don't know what they would be for each route.

Some regions were a similar costs, one was cheaper through USDM, most were cheaper through LM (some hugely so).

Please PM me if you would like my $ results for any region - alternatively I can post the entire comparison here if people are interested.

some good points.

however for me - i want the ease and certainty provided by USDM: (generally) available flights as per ANA/awardtravelr; easy to get phone assistance; easy to process refunds and changes; can get mixed class itineraries; frequent promotions. Lifemiles might be cheaper, and has one ways, but for convenience USDM has some very strong points.

I actually think life miles is mmore convenient due to being able to book flights online. I have had similar experiences with the call centres of both program's. Also being able to buy 150k miles in one hit during a bonus is pretty good.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Yeah would be interesting to see the whole set of comparisons, most of my itineraries are more complicated and so i get better value out of the USDM, but i am thinking of doing some one ways from Japan down to Perth and maybe Johannesburg or Nairobi to Perth and would be interested to see what the costs are for economy or business...

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Also interested in the comparison so please post it here.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

As requested - please check your destinations - they may not be zoned the same in both programs.
