re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Hi PF, make sure you call during our early morning (i.e. now), which is mid afternoon in Colombia. I called the Medellin number (+57 4 444 3434) on Tuesday morning, select option 2 for English, and that got me through without wait. If whoever you speak to doesn't know what they are doing ask for the Operational Events department. They should be able to change your flight without issues, as long as there is award availability on LM. Hope this helps.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou !!!
This worked and I have now been able to get the flight changed without any difficulty at all. :D

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Could someone shed a light on how to select SQ seat from a LM redemption ?

The LM reservation code / e-ticket number do not work.

Call up SQ ?

Thanks

When did you make your reservation? Has it been ticketed yet?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Yep, got the LM e-ticket number (Not the SQ 618 ....)

Unless there is some smart idea, I think I would have to call up SQ.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Need to book a through ticket on TG (C6-BKK-C2)-- given that this is no longer possible online, do I call or email LM to get this done? If so, what number or email address is the best in order to get this actioned with as little hassle as possible?

Here's the process - from post #4006 of this thread. You will need to email LM support, with the required three screenshots as outlined below:

the manual linking has been described earlier... it is only available in circumstances where:

  • the individual sectors are available (2 screen shots required)
  • the through booking cannot be made on-line (screen shot required)
  • the through booking would ordinarily have been available before the current 'glitch' (including for example an allowed routing, and connection time under 8 hours). You can't simply pull together two sectors for an itinerary that wasn't previously available.

To complete the booking you need to email lifemiles support (email can be found under 'contacts' on LM) and attach the screenshots, with an explanation of the issue. You will also need to include information such as your LM number, name, DOB.

They will (may) respond with a confirmation of the booking, and ask a time you will be available for them to call to take payment. They may or may not call, and they may or may not call at a convenient time.

Can the individual sectors be found online and within tge rules? If so screenshot them all and also screenshot the lack of availability on the full route and email it all to them.

My understanding is theyll then fix it up so long as it meets their rules

If it's been ticketed it should be possible to pull up the reservation on SQ.com using the LM PNR. This could fail if the ticket details haven't been passed to SQ or, as in my experience, there has been even a small time change on a flight such that the status of a segment is 'confirmed, timechange'. In the time change scenario SQ.com will fail to pull up the booking until the segment status is set to OK ('confirmed').

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I did try but it failed.

Calling up SQ, they saw the booking immediately and arranged for seat selection.

They told me "the only way to select seat from LM bookings is to call us........ There is no equivalent SQ booking ref / e-ticket number to give out......"

BTW, how do you get the EgyptAir to work ? It refused the LM booking code !

Friend

You'd need the followings:

1) Time

2) Time

3) Time

4) A good internet phone line

5) Some Zantac for your indigestion waiting for their reply, getting through the call centre .....

6) Be prepared to get up at 0100 to answer your phone [I was on the phone last night from 01:15 to 03:00]

7) Prewarn your bank so that the payment won't get blocked and you go back to #1

8) Set up & have the phone PIN ready for account verification

All the best of luck !

the lifemiles ticket number is the only ticket number you can have. You may however have multiple PNRs.

As bcworld says, the LM one should have worked. But if not, SQ can give you theirs. (people often find the mobile site is better rather than the PC site).

It is incorrect for SQ to say the only way to select seats is via the call centre. It can easily be done on line (and is in fact preferable, allowing you to select better seats as they open up). You can also manage the rest of your booking such as 'book the cook' if you want.

It may be a case of playing with your name... rather than the booking code. Again for MS it is possible to select seats on line if you have the PNR.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

There is no equivalent SQ booking ref / e-ticket number to give out

Well this is true. SQ and AV/TA both use Amadeus...so therefore the same PNR...and there is only one ticket number of course on the issuing airlines stock.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

It certainly can be done online.I initially couldn't select seats on a LM award on SQ last month.Wasn't really worried.Got an email from SQ re a time change-yes the flight was leaving 5 minutes later.Accepted the time change and then I was able to select seats.

I suspect it might be an issue with how the names are entered in to the 'passenger name' field. For my recent LM booking I entered firstnamefirstletterofmiddlename to get the system to bring up the booking.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I am curious how you could do that from the SQ site.

See photo

SQ LM Seat selection.jpg

I see no room to enter Names, only SQ booking ref or SQ e-ticket number.

Thanks

They might have swapped the family and first names

 that's embarrassing! I was getting confused with CX and AI (and others)!

Yes with SQ it should be fairly straightforward then. PNR, and then surname. We had no trouble with an LM issued flight on SQ in December.

Sometimes the SQ site will return an error, but then you just hit the back browser and try again and it works.

I was able to get SQ seat allocations for LM bookings through the SQ site. Look on CheckMyTrip to see if you can find the SQ PNR rather then trying to use the e-ticket numbers.
