re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Are there any known issues with booking AC flights? I can see availability online but cannot progress beyond the page where you can reduce the miles and increase the co-payment? Tried multiple times with different lap tops and browsers

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I tried a dummy booking and it does not work past the point you described above.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

How did you do that ?

Please tell me.

I was able to get SQ seat allocations for LM bookings through the SQ site.

CMT did not tell me anything new. There is no different "SQ" specific booking code whatsoever that I could see.

Maybe I had missed that one. Please tell me.

The SQ confirmation number is the same LM reservation code. SQ site refused to accept it.

.....Look on CheckMyTrip to see if you can find the SQ PNR rather then trying to use the e-ticket numbers.

have you tried the sq mobile site?

have you ensured the name is correctly spelled on the sq booking?

otherwise it should work.

B l o o d y H E L L !

It works on SQ mobile but definitely not on mainline SQ website.

Strange creature !

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Need to book a through ticket on TG (C6-BKK-C2)-- given that this is no longer possible online
I can get C6-BKK-C3 in TG J to work so it's definitely not a hard and fast rule but most connections really are broken. That is the only explanation for MEL-SIN-CGK-KUL showing up on SQ J/LH J when MEL-BKK-KUL on TG J is a perfectly legal, viable and more logical (shorter) route.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

How can one book Air New Zealand - is it completely blocked by Lifemiles ?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

It is incorrect for SQ to say the only way to select seats is via the call centre. It can easily be done on line (and is in fact preferable, allowing you to select better seats as they open up). You can also manage the rest of your booking such as 'book the cook' if you want.

Agreed. Have done this on multiple occasions (using the Avianca PNR to access SQ reservation via the SQ site 'manage booking' tab) without any issues.

Correction !

It is now working [SQ seat selection using LM reservation code] on both main & mobile SQ sites.

My guess is that I approach the SQ site too early - within 1-2 hours - of the LM ticketing causing the misplaced apprehension.

Probably the LM code had not arrived in the SQ mainframe yet.

Quite nuanced !

I booked a flight with AC (IST-YYZ-MIA) without several months ago and all was well. But yesterday when I tried to book with AC and was excited to find availability, like you, I also couldn't and instead got an error message. Hopefully just a temporary glitch.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Just tried to book SYD-bkk-SIN in TG J for 2 pax (already booked SYD-bkk TG F (same flight) and bkk-SIN TG J (later flight) for 2 pax using UA). Obviously this failed. E-mailed LM Support with all the requisite screenshots and got a very polite reply back wanting to help but needing passenger details. Now the waiting game...

LM require the following information as copied from their reply... (it might help to speed things up by a day if you can give all of this on the first email):

  • The frequent flyer number from where you want to redeem your miles.
  • Phone number to contact you, please specify the country it belongs to.
  • The passenger's information, gender, name and date of birth according to the passport.

Thanks. I completely forgot that. I've now sent them all that info so just waiting for them to do something with it and/or call me.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

This is a direct quote from the LM email I received yesterday explaining why it took them 48 hrs to get back to me:

".......

Dear Mr. Legroom,

It is my pleasure to greet you.

We apologize for the delay on our response; we have been receiving an unusual amount of requests lately.

Regarding your inquiry, we have verified the information provided and we were able to book the reservation code ABCXYZ on Business Cabin with the following itinerary ........"

Looks like AFFers are the contributors to the "unusual amount"

Maybe a response of "The reason you are receiving an unusual amount of requests lately is because your website has so many issues that LM members are unable to use it to book any flights. Perhaps if you fix the website you wont receive so many manual requests for support." is warranted.

They'll probably then reply that they have no time fixing it because all resources are allocated to responding to the emails... Very Monty-Pythonesque, this Lifemiles lot...

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I got the booking approved! I managed to find flights departing NRT to BKK in F, so did the same thing (screenshots...etc). Now I have TG641 NRT-BKK connecting TG475 BKK-SYD with 3:50 layover in BKK. All for 50000 miles. That's 15.5hr of F! Bargain!

Not sure if your booking is between 1st July and 1st October (?)...and if it is how to break it to you...but there is more playing with the TYO schedule:

THAI S15 Tokyo Narita Operation Changes as of 17FEB15 | Airline Route

From 01JUL15, the airline will operate 2 Daily Boeing 787 and 1 Daily A380 service. Previously planned Boeing 747-400 operation on TG640/641 will be postponed till 01OCT15.
TG676 BKK0735 – 1545NRT 380 D
TG640 BKK2210 – 0620+1NRT 787 D
TG642 BKK2350 – 0810+1NRT 787 D

TG641 NRT1100 – 1530BKK 787 D
TG643 NRT1200 – 1630BKK 787 D
TG677 NRT1725 – 2155BKK 380 D
