re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Holy lounge upgrade batman!! That's a significant improvement to the previous version. Well we'll have to try both :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

My daughter flew TG F last week ex-SYD and tried both the NZ lounge and SQ F Lounge. No problems whatsoever getting into the SQ Lounge. She said the food options were much better in the Koru club (breakfast). Having been in there myself at breakfast time last week I was very impressed by the re-furb. Really quite a lovely space now. Fantastic job done by NZ it's unrecognizable from the previous lounge.

The refurb had been a long time coming.

The star alliance rule is one thing, but whether the lounge will follow the rule is another.

That is the issue. And in MEL especially - the SQ lounge likes to send pax to the QF lounge. Not sure what's happening with EVA in BNE... a note to EVA customer care would possibly provide an answer.

As for the SQ lounge in SYD - I have to say the new Koru lounge looks better for business class! For First I'd still prefer the quiet of the SQ F lounge.

My daughter was the only person in the SQ F Lounge at the time. It may have felt a little intimidating for her being outnumbered by staff as that was the first time she had travelled long haul premium by herself.

I probably would have felt quite OK with it :)

Absolutely! If worn out couches and hot-dogs didn't take your fancy, happiness was to be found in the solitude of the old SQ F lounge, despite it's state*.

*if you ever wondered where old (like... really old) Qantas Club/Flight Deck furniture went to die... it was the former SQ lounges.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

The SQ F lounge in SYD in excellent. I've been the only pax there once in the morning and was told the chef will prepare whatever I like for breakfast, now that is First Class service!

I had the same experience flying TG F in Feb: ushered straight into the F Lounge by the SQ angels upon sighting my BP and invited to order whatever I wanted for breakfast. It was very quiet and the service (and the food) was excellent. I was surprised that the F Lounge was so quiet when the F cabin was full - TG service and food on the flight was also excellent and ground service in BKK was fantastic.

Because most TG pax dont know they have access to the SQ lounge.

Wonder if Koru lounge will send Air NZ gold/ elite flying BR (Y) in BNE to QP as well

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

So I am flying SQ F next week - and since I don't like private/tranquil lounges - I might duck into the NZ lounge where at least it is a bit busier in the mornings :)

No, they can't. As an air NZ elite flying Y on star alliance, the lounge access will be billed to air NZ. As Qantas club is not part of star alliance, they just can't get access to it.

In my case, the party paying the lounge was BR as I was a BR business class passenger. Maybe Koru club was afraid that BR won't pay, or won't pay much so they chose to deny my access.

Let us know if there was oyster.

oysters before getting on a plane sounds like a recipe for trouble to me. i always wonder how that champagne/oyster bar at the bottom of the stairs to the QF lounges in SYD stays in business.

If you fly first class, you can have the toilet all to yourself throughout the whole flight, unless you are flying China Southern

I flew TG F SYD-BKK with my best mate and we were the only ones in F so had a toilet each
