Silly me I should think before I speak! ANA J out of sydney and yahoo it is open wide! Time to ditch my TG J booking!

Through Lifemiles? What dates? The LMs engine doesnt even recognise SYD as an ANA destination

I tried some sample searches - don't specify the airline and SYD-HND on ANA will come up.

They don't start the service until December... and you have to search SYD-HND.

I found heaps of availability in February in both directions...

It wouldn't let me book it online though.. have sent an email to lifemiles to see if they can book it for me like the screenshot method.

Oops, could it be phantom? Definitely it is wide open in LM but I can't see it in United. Maybe it will take some time? After all, ANA just opened for ticketing today. Thought LM was fast.

This is going to be a very popular flight for LMers!

Is this LMs search engine smart enough to list terminal transfer flights on the same itinerary - ie flying into HND and out of NRT?

Even though I can't see it in United, definitely it is wide open in ANA website. Unless ANA reserve seats for their own member (which I don't think so), then the seat is real!

Apparently yes it will. But the connection must be under 8 hours.

Just on the phantom thing... if UA doesn't show it, the seat mightn't actually be there.

One would think ANA's tool would be accurate... although it could be availability for its own members.

Very easy for LM to look at that and say 'that's only for NH members' when if it shows on UA there is less of a chance of that happening!

I'd still be sending off the request though based on ANA.

Agree, LM will definitely say that. I won't show that it is available on ANA, I will just use screenshot on LM and see what they say. If they can't book it manually there is nothing you can do anyway even if it really is available.

IMO, just give it a bit of time. ANA is known to be generous so I am sure they have released tons of seats. I had similar problem trying to book F between SIN and NRT when it was first loaded into the inventory, but after a couple of weeks it was OK and can be easily booked online with LM.

It's quite interesting that Lucky just published an article on this discrepancies today:

So maybe United is still just a bit lagging.

Addition:
It maybe the system is lagging. Even if you want to book the revenue flights, if you choose any other sites other than Japan (eg. USA, Canada), it will show flights not available. You can book the flights only through Japan site, but the currency is only in JPY. So I would say give it a bit of time.

Good to see more *A routes open up to TOK but with respect to ANA, I reckon TG SYD-BKK-NRT F all the way for 50K miles is much better value.

Of course. That is why I am keeping my TG F booking next Feb. But for the convenience of no screenshot (hopefully) and shorter traveling time, it is definitely good news.

Screenshots, while they are a minor inconvenience, can sometimes play in your favour. Once I managed to score two seats even when the website showed only one seat available on each sector.

Which browser did you use? I think it's not browser issue, but the system has finally caught up. I just did another random date in Mar and it worked! Woohoo! This ain't no phantom! I am starting to sing the ANA song now!

And don't tell Lucky about it. He and Tiffany basically killed all the SYD-SFO seats!

I tried on the PC different browsers then I tried on the iPad then I called them and while on hold I tried a few times on my mobile and it went thru. Its not for me anyway for my parents but better than routing thru bkk and free wifi on-board
