re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I signed up but I haven't received the link from Inside Flyer to purchase.

On top of that I haven't found availability on any flights of interest so I'm disinclined to purchase at the moment.

If you've signed up for the 150% bonus, Lifemiles will send an email to you to confirm this. I got mine yesterday. Once logged on to your LM account, it should allow you to buy with the 150% bonus.

I got my email for the 150% bonus Yesterday also.
Still deciding whether or not to buy though.

I also received the 150% email from Lifemiles yesterday.
Now to decide whether to buy or not.

The biggest problem with the 150% promo is the need to buy at least 100K miles. It will be very hard to burn.

If you haven't received the email but have registered, sign in to your Lifemiles account, go through the motions of buying at least 100000 Lifemiles, and the 150% bonus will be there...to buy or not to buy that is the big Q: USD3300 for 250000 miles.....have to decide by Oct 12th (still have 300K Lifemiles hoarded in my account, and having more than 1/2 million Lifemiles makes me a little nervous!!)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Won't be taking the plunge this time. Enough points accumulated now for trips planned with Virgin sign up and referral bonuses and 250k is a bit too risky for LM...

thanks for the tip. would have been more comfortable with the email as backup as well but i suppose a screenshot will have to do

Just looked at the AUD/USD and decided to go for it.

First time in any points program, I hope it works out ok

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Is there a timeframe for cancelling? Another flight has appeared in J a few days after my F booking, i'm thinking i would like to have the extra days in LOS and the Red eye flight over the F flight.

If i book the J now, i shouldnt have any issues cancelling a ticket for a bit over 2 weeks should i?

Shouldn't have any issues - just call them. The $50 fee for the cancellation can sometimes be problematic for their system but once done the points are usually back in your account immediately. You need to keep an eye out for the refund of taxes: it can take a few weeks and sometimes not at all, requiring another call.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

i think im going to take the plunge and buy 150k miles (+150% bonus), for next year Dec/Jan Europe travel..
Can share when the availability will be open up for J (4pax) ??

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Consider continuing onto nth asia in F for a points discount!!

You mean skip the last legs and just get off in BKK or continue on just for the good value?

50k to North Asia is quite good. I have never been there. Now you got me thinking. :p

I would continue on, so you can experience the F lounge. It's quite hard to ditch the last leg cuz you will be "escorted" through transit security and into the F lounge on the departure level.

Just remember BKK-NRT/HND gets aircraft changes all the time and a very high likelihood you will be downgraded to J from F (happened to me 2/2 times!).

BKK-KIX seem to be a safer bet.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Is the best way to get to Japan via star alliance via BKK? Are the usual Syd-NRT/HND J seats very limited?

SYD-HND is quite readily available on NH I think...after the service commences in December of course.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Sorry for the ignorance, but what is NH? Is that ANA?
I tried a few test searches for Jan/Feb next year and there's not really any flights direct from SYD.

Yes NH is ANAs airline code (as QF is for Qantas).

Make sure you are searching HND not NRT

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Thx.
I did put in HND, not NRT. I thought maybe because they don't start flying till end of year, there's no award seats just yet.
