re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

you just need to call, for added peace of mind, SQ and TG. Ask them to retrieve the bookings and ask specifically 'do you have a ticket number against this reservation?'

I have had no issues with either sq or tg in this regard and i did not call and wouldn't in the future

that's ok. but there are plenty of reports on FT and I also speak from experience that airlines have cancelled a ticket because they didn't get the ticket numbers in time. I have spent close to two million miles on USDM, it's happened once personally but once is all it takes.

calling the airline to ensure they have the ticket number takes a few seconds, and can save hours of unnecessary stress if you have to try and fix it. it remains sounds advice for anyone.

Ok you do that. Plenty of reports on ft ? Not regarding lm bookings there isnt.

Smart move. The reason for ringing can always be to change the allocated seat assignment. I think it is worth checking seating availability on Expertflyer and then ringing the airline to be allocated the seat that you want.

Correct. Nothing from LM. But there are from USDM and UA (ticket numbers not going across affecting OZ and SQ, and even with the R1 fares ex RGN, with TG with ticket numbers dropping off there). There is no reason to suspect that the LM booking engine is any more perfect than the others, or that a glitch can't occur at some time (for whatever reason). Always worth the few seconds of time. I usually ask the ticket number question when ringing to select seats.

When I log in to the TG website with my booking references, the eticket numbers show up. I might go and call them up on Monday just in case though. Better safe than sorry..

would be a worry if they can't find the ticket numbers when it is showing up on their own website

whats the go with signing up or updating your profile on the Lifemiles site.

I can do the intial sign up fine (where it asks you for an ID i.e. passport number).

But then on the next page which is updating your profile, country of residence, city, middle name etc, the site seems a bit buggy and the english a bit off. For instance, the only city it will let me select from a drop down list is South Oakley... can't even type one in. It also wont let me add a middle name.

Is this standard? Or am I way off one some other website scamming personal details? But its definetly https://www.lifemiles.com.

I skipped all those details, just closed my browser after completing the first screen (basic name and stuff). I thought closing the browser would terminate my registration... but it didn't! I'm a live member with just page one filled out. even bought miles no probs. I thought it was waaaay too much private info they were after.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Haven't looked for links yet but I am sure I have read about the same stuff before on either AFF, FlyerTalk or Milepoint-I seem to recall it was all OK

There is never a need to use middle names on the actual booking. The only country that requires a middle name is the USA and that can be added with the passport information, the middle name is still not needed for the actual airline reservation.

Thanks for the info to you both. Does the same apply if the middle name is wrong though? In my earlier example, for one pax's title has been inserted where their middle name should be - e.g. Jane Mss Doe. Is this cause for any concern?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

How did you do this on line? I don't see MEL (or any other Australian airport) in the drop down list!

i didn't get a drop down screen.
Log into site if you wish
select enjoy and then air tickets
then you should get a screen like this

then fill in the fields like this. Type MEL and the full details will appear. Might take a few seconds to load.
2012-12-17 07:36:32 +00001.jpg

then hopefully you will end up with this screen

Hello All! Just joined this forum. I am a regular contributor on the FT site! Other than the known Asia-to-Asia via Europe "trick" are there other such circuitous routes possible for lower mileage? Looking specifically to/from US. I have a few tricks that I already have which I am happy to share. Feel free to PM me!

Thanks!
