re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Read through this thread - los of info on screenshot method.

Will do - 582 pages - should be some light night time reading :D

Edit:

Having done a quick search of "Screenshot"

Am I right in that you build the itinerary with screenshots and email it to the Lifemiles email support? Wait 48 hours and cross your fingers?

Yes - it takes between 24-48 hours for the itinerary to come through and then another 24-48 hours for someone to call you to collect the taxes. It usually works out ok. Make sure you write all the flights you want to, include your lifemiles no and name on passport

Can you use the flexible payment (miles and cash option) with this?

Yes. And believe it or not, they prefer this more than just miles cuz it means more cash in their hands.

Just let them know how many miles you'd like to use.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

That's interesting, as I looked at the LH F map and BKK isn't on there. Or at least for the next 14 days.

Using the LH website to try and book FRA-BKK will send you on LX F via ZRH.

LH fly F to PEK, however, and even better (I guess, subjective) they fly the A380 there (I think - it was one of the first places to get LH A380 F).

I'm pretty sure LH to BKK is just two or three class (if they're gonna have PEY).

The actual routes you want to fly are the 744 (rather than the A380). Those have the full bed next to the individual seats - just 8 on the upper deck. Next would be the 748.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Did anyone actually found availability on LH F from Europe to Asia in the next two weeks?

I've searched a few options but no luck yet.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

2 December, FRA-PVG in LH F ... Seems like a few days after as well.

FRA - SIN LH F Dec 3 on LH

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Thanks guys.
I was looking on a bit later dates but at least there is hope to find something. Would love to swap my coming BA F for LH F if possible :p

There is also FRA to HND on several dates.

Do LH still have 744s in service?

My flight to HND will be served with a 748, so no bed+seat for me. I would have liked the A380 but zip on availability when and where I needed it.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Its a lot better than nothing. I assume LH dont fly to BKK?

EDIT: ive just checked and they do BKK-FRA. I would be a nice way to 'upgrade' a TG F flight to FRA to LH F!

I reckon the screenshot method could even get you SYD-BKK-HKG-FRA....

I reckon people should be trying HKG through to BKK with the screenshot method

Actually that's a good point! I think by now (mid-nov) LH is no longer selling F on their 744s. Any remaining 744s with F cabins are being sold as business class only. And there might only be a couple of those left anyway (soon to be converted).

That's a possibility, though I'm unsure of the timing (i.e. does it all marry up). If it could stretch, one could even get three F sectors on the same ticket (viz. connect to BKK/SYD on TG F).

I'd imagine availability to HKG would be rather thin, but it is close in availability to anything is possible, really. My preliminary searches showed more luck trying for ICN and HND (and interestingly enough, even some close in NH F availability to NRT is available). Even PEK and PVG show slim to none.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

It has need discussed several times before. The reason for the 8hrs rule was cuz the online search engine never showed connection more than 8hrs hence the assumption of the 8hr connection rule.

Now we have the screenshot methods and realized that many of the legit connections was never shown on the online search engine previously.

So please try and report back if you are successful.

Success - no questions asked at all. Had a slightly different experience with screenshots, will explain in post successful thread

Thanks for letting us know. So what we know from all the reports here, it seems with screenshots you can be as creative as you like with the itinerary. It's basically the new USDM! Only caveat is the no mixed cabin rule and still no stopover, but can have one way which USDM didn't allow.

This is something that even the "professional" bloggers don't know!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

At 100% bonus, it's cheaper to do copayment. At 120% it's the same. At 140%, it's cheaper to buy promo.

But you still need 40% of miles to use copayment. So we buy promos for that 40%. Some people will max out at 140% as that's cheaper than copayment. But it's risky to warehouse that many miles that you don't have any plan to use. It'll devalue over time.
When you buy at above US$ parity there is very little risk. I managed to warehouse ~350k when the A$ was above US$1.05 which gave us return J to Europe for around A$2k each. If we ever get above .90 again I will be sweating on another promo.

I agree. Im actually liking LMs more and more the more broken it gets because it rewards us experts who go the extra yard over the everyday occasional blog reader.
