re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Slightly off topic per thread name but would still be relevant to LM aficionados here

FAA has recently downgraded TG to category 2 where "... no new service is allowed into the USA ...." due to concerns over regulatory framework overseeing safety issues.

Given that many of us burn LM on TG, what's you going to do ?

No. The FAA has downgraded the Thai Aviation sector due to a lack of oversight from the authorities. While its concerning, it really has nothing to do with TG. Nor will it impact them, as I hardly think expanding to new services (particularly US routes) is on the cards for TG right now! They might find themselves subject to more detailed checks in some ports but I have no qualms about the safety of TG based on anything I've read.

Agree.

If the EU/US/Japan specifically ban TG it might be time to reconsider. But this is far short of that.

So. LH is releasing F award space.

And now I seem to have found first award space on SQ as well. I can't work out how to do a screenshot on a PC - but details below! Is it real? Is it mirage?

This is a good reminder, but not actually new :) SQ has had F availability to DEL (and I think BOM??) for a long time. Bookable via LM. Now with LH F would make a nice combo.

And it's because SQ's F to India used to be their old F class that wasn't that popular. Now I can see it's both A380 (good) and B772 (bad) so if it's F on A380 it's a miracle and book it straight away and if it's B772 unrefurbished then book it, too, but don't get too excited

There is no F on the 772s? (at least that I can find).

The flights to DEL in F have been available for about a year. I think initially as you mention, with 773s and a 77Ws once a week. Looks like they might have up-gauged now :)

There is. The old regional F, 12 seats, 2 x 2 x 2

To where? They don't have any according to the SQ website in their fleet diagrams. All two-class.

The 772 operating to DEL is two-class only.

These 772 to India used to be the old config, with the old blue F recliners. If they are finally gone, it's great! But it then means there's no F on 772 to Delhi, isn't it so not so good news after all

All 380's according to this.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Im on TG462 MEL-BKK in a few weeks time. Looking at Flightradar it looks like the 77W has been operating the route about once a week (with all other days using a 772). I assume there is no rhyme or reason as to when and why TG cycle the 77W onto this route and you just cross your fingers on the slim chance of it happening?

Up until the start of the winter season TG462 (and quite often 466 too) was going out 77W every day. Unfortunately they then started the second LHR flight and MEL went back to 772ER. I wouldn't bank on the once a week thing based on recent days, I kept an eye on it for a while after Oct and it was always 772ER...the recent one I'm sure is a total outlier. I'd believe whatever your seatmap says. Now that TG have lost their second LHR slot at the end of the winter timetable hopefully it comes back!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

There are 2 daily flights from SIN to DEL, the morning one is on b772

Yep, I was only focusing on SQ406.
