re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

"So, all in all I got exactly what I wanted, but took another year off my life. Very happy though. Few lessons:
1. You cannot cancel with an email, even when you beg
2. Be liberal with transit times, they don't seem to care as long as its less than 24 hours
3. Persistence pays off"

Thought ild just say that I have now cancelled 3 different bookings by emailing them and requesting a call back, the last one only 2 weeks ago, seems I may just be lucky but each time the process has been painless and extremely quick(less than 10 mins on the phone each time)

Sure, but you didn't cancel by email...

Well that's true, but the point of my post is that IME it's possible to email lifemiles requesting a callback to cancel bookings which going by some of the posts in this thread saves a lot of time and hassle than actually ringing yourself

Calling to cancel isn't too hard, just depends who you get. Most of the time spent is in reading out CC details over a choppy Skype connection. We did 3 cancellations index about 15 min via calling. With Avianca, everything is luck of the draw.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Hi all,

Been reading these forums now for quite some time but only just signed up as I've got a quick questions regarding LM. I've booked many times in the past without issue, but now am having difficulty finding good flights for 3 people from Melbourne to Europe (Paris, Rome, Athens etc).

I'm thinking that they may intentionally provide certain flights only for bookings of 3 people and above. I logged into two accounts, found a good flight for two people and got to the screen when you input traveler's details. I'm assuming this 'locks in' the 2 tickets for you to proceed. I then used the other account and again 2 tickets came up for this flight. So I'm very much hoping this is correct and that there may be many seats available but if you search 3+ it limits the selection. Does this seem correct?

I also remember Singapore only releasing flights like a few weeks before particular dates, is this still the system? Any tips on getting Singapore business flights?

Thank you all.

When are you looking to travel?

Interesting, I had a similar situation but it was was Oz to Chiang Mai. I wanted to book 4 tickets but could not find 4 on the same flights. I then did a search for 3, still nothing. I then thought i would seperate the bookings look for 2 seats. I found and booked the 2 seats and then went back and did a search and found another 2 seats (onlya couple of minutes later) on the exact same flights. So i don't know if they released 2 new seats (once I had booked my flights) or if the system just wouldn't show me 4 seats

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Have you looked at buying AA miles? There's plenty of availability in (for example) July for MEL-LHR/CDG/BCN/etc in J for 3 pax.

Would be about AUD $11k return for 3 pax in J with the current points promo.

For LM you'd need the equivalent 510,000 miles for 3 x J return if you can find availability.

Don't know what half a million LM miles is worth but is it $AUD 11k?

Currently LM has a share mile offer (which has been extended for another 3 days). Together with the flexi payment you can still get LM at 1.5 cents each.

Half a million LM will be $7500

Anyone had luck reseting password on LM? I've tried through the online account, checked spam etc and even email them but can't get a new password.

I'm trying to avoid calling them but i've got 60k miles there I want to use!

Have you been locked out "due to multiple failed attempts" even though you only did typo once? It happened to me before, and unfortunately, other than calling there was no other way I could unlock it.

You got it! Thanks for confirming my thoughts, guess a call is in order!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

It has happened to me but as I wasn't doing anything important I waited ~ 3days and used the forgot password option and it worked then though not on the original day.

AFAIK, the seats won't be 'locked' until payment. Up until that stage, the same seats could show in multiple accounts, and you could put passenger names against them. Only once you hit the payment will they be taken out of inventory. This is different from a manual reservations system where an agent might 'hold' the seats against a PNR.

TG releases award seats in blocks of two. If the total allocation of award seats hasn't been exhausted, two more seats will continue to appear until the total allocation is used. These will generally pop up immediately if they are going to do so.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

The seats are locked after pax details are entered and submitted.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Gday

Cant remember if this was mentioned previously but since the website revamp in Jan it has been possible to book SQ F........ but on one route only. CGK- SIN or vice versa. I cant seem to link it up with any other SQ F legs so you are really only getting a 75 minute F experience in the 777-300. Better than nothing. What amazed me was that SQ run three flights a day with F for such a short route. Must be plenty of money sloshing around Jakarta to make this economically viable.

Pele.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

lLease let that be a very short term glitch and not the very quiet unannounced introduction of flexible award pricing

Well, this particular case is a discount rather than a surcharge, since 90,000 is the usual cost.

Nice find! It might be specific to Japan, as JFK-ICN still shows as 90,000.

Possibly even specific to Chicago.

$7500 USD or AUD??
