This has been allowed for a while. At the time, simultaneously the IT glitch was fixed and SQ J ex-AUS was wide open.

Now the IT glitch has come back and SQ J ex-AUS has been blocked again so we are all back at screenshots again. But mixed cabin is still allowed, which makes itinerary using screenshot a bit easier.

Hopefully the glitch is temporary...

Air China also seems to be a bit of a problem - even though it shows, LM says they can no longer book it.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

If I fly TG F can I guest someone who flys TG J (not on same flight) to the BKK F lounge?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Anyone had any luck using an Australia post or American express travel card to buy lifemiles points or pay taxes? Am tempted to buy some USD on one of these cards and wait for the next 2:1 sale (speaking of which, haven't had one since Dec so must be due soon)

The sale should be around May based on last couple of years.

I don't see any reason why payments would be rejected, although there are reports that some bank issued Amex cards have been rejected.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

My Amex issued Amex card invariably gets rejected.Only accepted once in 3 times I have rung Amex to tell them what I intended to do.Never accepted if I just use it.
Have given up and just use my CBA Visa.

Gday

But in keeping with the Lifemiles theme- there does not seem to be any consistent rules. My Amex issued Amex and Citibank Visa have both been accepted multiple times over the past 3 months and i have never rang them in advance to tell them what i am doing.

It may not even be a Lifemiles problem. When my bank issued Amex was declined last week I rang the bank who said they couldn't see any rejection but offered the advice that Amex cards are subject to fraud protection mechanisms different to Visa and Mastercard. She said these included daily limits on certain countries and/or transaction types. This would explain being accepted some times and rejected others. She reminded me that my associated mastercard pays the same points on overseas transactions and suggested I always use it for them. She said the reason for the higher points on the mastercard for overseas transactions was to overcome this problem.
I did have to ring Lifemiles to get them to cancel the half completed booking and thankfully the seats immediately returned and I was able to re-book on-line using the mastercard.

Just to clarify the daily limits were not specific to individual account holders but rather amex limits on total country etc.

Not happy with this latest update. Also seems to be some restrictions for a month or so with the new TG flights ex MEL. The A350 seem to be out of they system in July? The other flight is still there (although once they both go to A350 the flights are back in ).

No SQ anymore?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

i've been keeping an eye out for SQ and everything that was there (which was pretty decent) before the update is now gone.
went through the next 6 months ADL-SIn and MEL-SIN and nothing for 2 in J
this is so disappointing, especially after we all got so excited after the previous update.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I managed to get SQ MEL-SIN-BKK and TG BKK-MEL on A350 for August a few weeks back. At the time I thought "This can't last" so I jumped on them and burned all but 250 miles. Glad I did. LM is so inconsistent you just have to snap up whatever you can.

Search MEL to CTS. Pulls SQ J for at least March 23rd and then screenshot. I think it only works close in but haven't tried many dates.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

OZ lax-icn aircraft change from a380 to 747 on Apr 4 :( other days seem fine so I got lucky.

I ended up cancelling this one. Took 10 minutes on the phone, same as last time. Lifemiles agents are pretty good these days. Hangouts dialer keys seem to work better than Skype.

Could do CX J the day after for 60k Alaska miles @ 2.1c/m but AA F direct flight to SYD showed up this morning so I grabbed it. No need to stay one more night. 72500 miles @ 1.88c/m. Very happy now :D

Thanks for that. Yeah close in has always worked for sq from the beginning but I couldn't find anything further out

I wonder if you can use this method for SQ J to BKK and then add a BKK-KIX F segment?
