Re: All the SQ J class seems to have disapperaed

Thanks, think it might be cos I'm in a hotel. Have used my webmail and will see if it rejects later, but it wasn't rejected straight off the bat (which makes me assume it's the hotel side).

Your non-webmail email may not be setup for authenticated and/or secure SMTP so perhaps why you're getting that message? Sending to any other email address should confirm that's the case :)

Thanks. It does and doesn't work with other email addressess... I can send to most, but my iphone won't send emails on this network. I've found it does that at most hotels and I can't really fix it.

Anyway, the webmail worked so thats ok for now. I feel a bit like the guy in that XKCD about workarounds...

Re: All the SQ J class seems to have disapperaed

On another note, anyone have any bright (screenshot) ideas to get me from Perth to Bishkek in business late feb (26th ish, onwards) next year?

It's very hard to do, so I'd be happy to get anywhere that is within a 1 airline hop of it. Dubai would be ok but the points required skyrocket to middle east instead of central asia. Would love some other ideas.

Perth-Bangkok-Istanbul-bisheck....
search for Bangkok and send both screenshots

Re: All the SQ J class seems to have disapperaed

Thanks. That's the only one I have, just looking for better/shorter option.

But thank you for also looking! :)

Re: All the SQ J class seems to have disapperaed

Perth Singapore Istanbul bisheck
perth is the tough starting point. If you can get a tiger air/LCC flight to Singapore/Sydney/Melbourne, the possibilities vastly improve.

Re: All the SQ J class seems to have disapperaed

Hi all,

I purchased a nice set of points about 12-18 months ago and I'm now about to use them for my honeymoon. The return flight isn't available yet, but just looking at Melbourne-coughet return in TG J. So getting prepared to make the booking.

However, when we fly we'll have our 18 month old son. What's the process adding him to the booking?

Sorry for not searching the thread, as I'm sure the answer is in here. But searching forums is not my strong suit unfortunately.

cheers

Once you have the adult tickets booked (I would book return because of the infant ticket otherwise could get really expensive) you will need to contact Thai Airways directly in Melbourne to add your infant. They are very helpful and can be emailed at [email protected], you will generally get a same business day response.

Note it won't be cheap. Thai charge 20% of revenue fare for infants in business class. Yes it is a rip. Used to be 10%. So you're probably looking at ~$800.

Re: All the SQ J class seems to have disapperaed

Hi All

I am trying to assist a mate with 2 x J or F SYD - CDG as a starting point. I am doing all the ground work as the whole point thing is completely foreign to them..

I am not really familiar with AUS to Europe via LM.

Can someone please point me to a starting point on a couple idea to look at route wise and airlines ??

I have personally used LM to USA and seem to find it easier than Europe, so I feel there may be a few different things I should keep in mind..

Appreciate any ideas or bits of info that may assist me here in helping get them sorted :)

Thanks in advance

TG J or F will be your easiest routing to get, could also try Asiana in J. You will most likely need screenshots though. Use airline search too

Thai airways is likely to be the easiest and most straight forward. Select Thai airways from the drop down box.

You have several options for searching. But the LM tool is fairly clunky... I use United's engine to search for award space, and then look to recreate that on LM. You need to exclude Air China from any UA results as those are no longer available on LM.

Once you find space on UA, you can try to force the itinerary on LM either through selecting the specific airline, or selecting time of departure, or both.

LM will sometimes return different result selecting 'star alliance', 'all airlines', or 'airline specific', so you can try all three to see what comes up.

If if all of those don't return something useful, you could resort to the screenshot method... but that may involve a call to your friend at midnight when they try to call for paymen!!

For some popular routes starting from May 15

N America 110000 --> 105,000

EU Business 85000 --> 92500
EU First 115000 --> 120000

SE Asia Business 40000 --> 50000
SE Asia First 60000 --> 75000

N Asia Business 40000 --> 50000
N Asia First 50000 --> 62500

Not sure if I will buy LM much anymore. Europe isn't too bad but I redeem a lot on South East Asia and North Asia. Still some good deals though.
