Well that got me there indirectly.Said checkin not open.
And a button for go to seat selection-but that said sign in for seat selection.
So signed up for the OZ FF program and now all my bookings are there.

Once I had my bookings I could select seats on line.
Message-if you have an award booking on OZ from any other program you need to have an OZ account to access.

weird. I just tried my booking and can choose seat without having to have an account. Not sure if it's because my flight is next month.

I find the Oz website / mobile phone app so buggy and unreliable (sometimes it works, sometimes not) that I always just ring the Asiana office in Sydney for seat requests :)

Continuing my newbie experience.

Have successfully redeemed an Asiana flight about 3 days ago :), got confirmation e-mail, with a PNR from Lifemiles (ending in 'FU' - is that an omen? ), but no 'e-ticket' from them.

Logged into Asiana, found reservation, generated Asiana e-ticket, selected seat, all looks OK.

Is that how Lifemiles usually works - you have to go into the redeemed airline to get the e-ticket?

It seems to depend. If you do the screenshot method they always send you an e-ticket receipt. Quite often with a completely on-line redepmtion they don't. You can email support and ask them for a copy of the e-ticket.

I did the same as you the other day and contacted the operating airline as I needed the e-ticket number urgently. They generated the e-ticket from their end and emailed it to me (and I got a copy from LM a couple hours later).

I did a search last night and was surprised to see the old search results interface come up!

Was momentarily excited, but then noticed the redemption levels were higher too!

I was looking at HKE-TPE.

Current interface is 8k economy / 15k business
Old interface was showing 15k economy / 22.5k business

All subsequent searches brought up the current interface. I can't recall, were Asia redemptions in the same zone once higher than they are now? Or is there a devaluation in the works!??

The 15/22.5 for North Asia->North Asia was always what I recall. Perhaps there was a special discount for the lower levels you saw? They have them from time to time on select routes.

They do list a promo of 30k roundtrip on Asia 1 - Asia 1...so that would explain 15k, but the economy promo is listed at 20k...whereas it prices at 8k both directions, so not sure!

With these short 'flash sales' the main risk for delaying purchase is that the system might not be working or might not accept your credit card. Otherwise there's nothing to lose by waiting to see if an extra bonus gets offered.
