Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Had to ring Lifemiles because of Thai changing their schedule again. Another frustrating experience-disconnected a few times & it seemed all the staff confused the number 5 in our booking reference, they all kept saying 4

I booked Air China a couple of days ago and noticed the first attempt to complete the booking always returned the error screen (contact lifemiles etc etc). But going back to the main screen and immediately doing the booking a second time yielded results (takes you to the page to enter passenger details). I did this a few times over the course of a couple of days and each time was the same. So might be a small workaround rather than having to go to the screenshot method.

I signed up for this. The money was taken and points posted for the first month on sign up. Second month, they took the payment but posted no miles, it does state it should be immediate. They responded to my support emails but never actually fixed it. Nearly a whole month went by so I terminated the plan & initiated a credit card chargeback. Ultimately, before the CC company took it further, the miles posted AND they refunded my payment, so I ended up with 7000 free miles. I probably won't bother signing up again though.

Hmmmmm...... that makes me think twice ...... anyone else signed up?

Made 2 bookings recently...OZ SYD-ICN-LAX and NH ORD-HND-SYD and had to go back and forth 3 or 4 times for each to get to the payment screen. Same error screen.....

i recall someone said there had been a change to Lifemiles T&C's... can one still purchase 1000 miles to renew the expiry of their miles for an additional 12 month or do I need to burn these points in full before the expiry?

Any points EARN will extend the validity of all points by 12 months. Redemptions or other account activity do not extend. So yes, the 1000 top up will suffice.

I seem to have been locked out of my lifemiles account, and the reset password option doesn't work. Anyone had this happen before? Is email the quickest remedy, or will I need to call?

I think this happened to me in the past. Have you tried clearing cookie?

I tried your suggestion, but still no luck unfortunately. Quite frustrating, since I want to have a look at things before I contact them about a Thai schedule change to a booking.

you can use United’s tool to get a rough idea of availability. LM should be able to offer the same, although might require a screen shot (or just providing the flight details if it’s a schedule change).

Thanks, I'm using this to have a look at my options as you suggest. My flights are CDG>BKK>MEL (Jan 2019), and the second leg has been cancelled and replaced by a flight the following day (18 hour layover). Was hoping there might be an alternative award fare with closer connections based on the same itinerary on either the same day or day afterwards, but there doesn't seem to be.

Sounds a bit similar to our situation but we are MUN/BKK/SYD. On the Thai site they had reallocated us to an alternative flight. Accepted the change online but still had to ring Lifemiles to get etickets reallocated. Not til July 2019 but no other alternatives that would work for us

If this is all TG metal, TG can release a revenue seat for you if there is an earlier flight, but sounds like you might be arriving at 6am and then waiting for the 0015 the next morning? (0810 cancelled?)

Probably not a lot that can be done, unless you get another flight out of europe to connect with the 0015. TG could also release a seat there for you. If you email their melbourne office they are usually very helpful. Make it clear you know TG can’t reissue the ticket, and you will call lifemiles to do that if TG can get the seats.

Newbie questions. Just making sure. I've been wading through Lifemiles' T&Cs :(

Can someone give me the Readers Digest version:

If I want to cancel a redeemed ticket (on Asiana) what will it cost me (ie in miles, the cash taxes and/or outright cancellation penalty)

Are the redeemed tickets usually ticketed immediately, or fairly promptly?

I think miles are valid for only 12 months? A 'miles accrual' will extend them. Does a purchase count as a 'mileage accrual'

Thanks

The cancellation fee is now generally USD200 PER TICKET, however you would need to confirm that against any redemption you plan to make during the booking process (in the glory days cancellation was USD50).

I would say most are ticketed immediately, the remainder promptly.

Happened to me a week or so back. Sent an email to support, they emailed me back asking for colour copy of identification, I emailed back a scan of my passport, they emailed me a 72 hour link to reset my password. Sorted in a few days.

Not so long ago I cancelled LM awards.yes $US200 per person but taxes back so ended up costing $US61 per person.
miles + taxes back with me immediately. Was ANA LAX-NRT in F.
The only hard part was understanding the accent on the automated payment system.

I have just been checking our trip next may.Have LM awards NRT-ICN-FRA and return.Went to the Asiana website to see about selecting seats.enter the booking details and it comes up incorrect details.for mileage bookings please log in.
has anyone else had that.I do intend to ring on monday-OZ Sydney office.

Try this link. You can normally assign seat at checkin link but without checking in. The link is normally at the bottom of your screen or plan --> advanced checkin. Check-in/Seat assignment│Asiana Airlines
