re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

That is just awesome. What an experience! Especially if the stars align!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I did and that was superb. Had the keys to a brand new 911s convertible. Felt strange just being handed the the keys with no background check or any tuition especially with all the traction controls. Drove a little over the 150km budget mostly on the autobahn - managed a top speed of 260ish but can't say for sure as I was concentrating like hell!!!

Awesome, I've read about people taking 911s out for a spin but what are the details regarding it?
ie you have to be an F pax, there is a time limit, there is a fixed price.. etc?

What aircraft was your FRA-KIX on?

I believe it's for first class passengers only but I wasn't asked to show my boarding pass or any other proof of my first class ticket - all I quoted was my flight number when I booked it. A the time period is three hours and a max of 150ks included in the price. See the link for more info

Lufthansa ® Australia - Experience the pleasure of driving a Porsche from 99.10 euros

As for the aircraft is was 747-400 so 8 seats in F each with there own seat and independent bed. I thought the cabin was great and the free inboard wifi was great to use if a little strange.

Wow, thanks again.
Did you get new F on the 744?
Looks like the odds are quite good ex-FRA (17/20). I would be interested in new F on the A380/748 but it looks like award availability may not be as easy to come by compared to 744 routes.

New First class retrofit thread - FlyerTalk Forums

I am tentatively planning a *A trip in F from Europe back to Australia and using your routing to use the FCT and paying with LM, this seems great.

So it sounds like your journey went:

FRA-KIX
LH740
1345-0845

KIX-BKK
TG623
1100-1545

I would be thinking of a final BKK-SYD on TG475 (departing at 1750 or 1910 depending on the day), which fits in to the LM guidelines of *shorter* stopovers..

Thats the route I used. I think with LH F it's just a case of grabbing what you can but for availability I think KIX seems the best option although there was some to PEK.

The 744 F was fantastic so I wouldn't be too concerned about not getting the 748 or 380.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Thanks for everyone's help. I managed to book the following for July this year.

GUM-NRT-SFO-SEA in Y
and back
SFO-TPE-GUM in J

Not exactly YVR. But close enough that we will make our friends wedding.

Also researching availability GUM-NRT-YVR there was a lot of J availability in the next month and then a lot Dec 2014 with nothing in between.

So at least we have a backup plan to get there and if a flight becomes available closer to the time we can fork out the $50 cancellation fee and get there more direct and in more comfort.

Thanks for the info in this forum.

Looking to go back to Europe from SYD or MEL for Oceania-Oceania price. Any hints?

4 economy flights and then a train to get to Vancouver - I couldn't imagine anything worse! Would it really have been much more expensive for you to just buy flights from Guam to Vancouver? You can get there for about $1000 with one stop in Manila.

Awesome, from all accounts I've read - new F is great regardless of aircraft.
Have you tried old F?
Also what champagnes did they offer on your flight?

Any F is fine by me - the old F looks a little dated but I think the seat is just fine. Ok the entertainment system isn't as good as the more modern systems but it does the job. My favourite TG F was in the old leased planes from Jet Airways (I think) as they had a sliding screen which gave you some privacy.

As for champagne we had Dom P 2004 with TG & with LH it was Curvee Louise 1999 which I preferred. On the LH inflight menu they had Krug listed as well as Curvee Louise but they only offer one. To be honest I expected the wines on LH to be a little better as everything else was superb, that's not to say they weren't nice I just expected to be drinking say a slightly better wine.

Yeah fair call - its not a perfect itinerary.
But $1000 is quite a lot more than $300.
And like I said its a backup - there is plenty of availability a month out from now
(Opportunity cost is the $50 cancellation fee)

I have just chosen the seats on the SFO-TPE-GUM leg and even though we only redeemed J - we have been assigned Premium Laurel Class on both BR flights.
TPE-GUM is on an A330-200 - so only the two classes on the plane so it kind of makes sense to get the 'upgrade', but the SFO-TPE leg has three classes on the plane - so I have no idea why we are in Premium Laurel and not Business (or elite as they call it).

Has anyone else had this experience?

I'm not complaining mind...

EVA Air have different names for different Business class products across its system. Premium Laurel is the J product on the A332 (also on B744).

The best BR J is on the B77W - Royal Laurel.

Elite class, I believe, is a Premium Economy product.

My bad - one of my legs is Premium Laurel - but the other one (the one on BR27 on a 77N) is in Royal Laurel. Not bad for a business redemption!

Well, for a Business redemption you should receive a Business Class product :)

Note EVA Air has no First Class.

as Anat0l says - all the different descriptors you have mentioned are just different versions of business class. There is no first class. So you are just getting what you have paid for :)

You paid business and got business...I'm not sure why you're surprised!??

haha, I'm not sure? - Royal Laurel sounds like First class and looks like first class in the seating arrangement...

What looks like a duck and sounds like a duck??
