re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

my outbound MEL-BKK...on overnight...still shows 77W, but we shall wait and see. Sigh.

Didn't have to wait long...that's now gone 2-2-2 as well. Humph! Off to grab the last pair of seats remaining.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

They've had some (2?) for quite some time now.

The have a full flat but different product to A380 / 77W. Not staggered, in a 2-2-2 arrangement...so no direct aisle access for all.

Cool, do you know which lucky routes?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Perth and Tokyo at the moment. But I think this is changing. I flew it a couple of weeks back, is a decent enough flat bed product, but nothing special.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Nice! Hope you confirmed it's Ok? ;)

I'm on a F RTW this July/August but the only flight I couldn't get on an A380 was the BKK-SYD leg :( Let's hope they are still operating F then.

What are the other flights? Are there many transatlantic *A A380 routes (besides SQ/LH)? How about transpacific (besides SQ)?

Edit: oops forgot about OZ

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I have a thai ticket that has had a time and flight number change, do I need to contact LM to reissue ticket? I have no issues with the chnage and still fits in with 8 hour rule thanks

you should.

You should also confirm directly with thai, after the ticket has been revalidated, to ensure they have a valid ticket number against the booking.

(perhaps an easier option would be to email lifemiles support, they usually answer overnight (our time) *if* they are going to reply)

I just contacted the Thai Sydney office when this happened to us.They fixed everything.Didn't contact LM.Flew without problems.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I emailed [email protected] for a time change yesterday and got a response overnight with updated itinerary showing "confirmed" instead of "confirmed - timechange". This was much easier for me than calling LifeMiles.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Anyone think they will re adjust their tables due to changes in oil price?

I haven't seen a single FFP around the world make such an adjustment (some have decreased the cash component, i.e. carrier imposed surcharges, but not the points cost). So I'm going to bank on a "No".

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Got reply from LM. They told me that TG661 can't be redeemed for First Class at the moment.

WTF!? I never asked for TG661! I specifically asked for TG683 connecting TG475 with all departure and arrival time included! Looks like I got a dud agent. I asked them to look again into the flights I wanted.

Anyhow, it does raise an interesting question. It might suggest TG is doing some serious shuffling with their fleets and won't allow anymore F booking. A sign suggesting they are phasing out F?

Not sure of your dates, but if you check the updates here:

THAI S15 Operation Changes as of 29JAN15 | Airline Route

...you'll see TG682/3 is operated by some flavour of 777 from 29 March = no F.

Thanks, my first priority for J is a flat bed. I'm not a fan of angled seats - so trying to plan my options if possible.

sorry i wasn't clear, i'm flying on kf and qf points being syd-sin-nrt-lax (sq) and jfk-dxb-bkk (ek) ... bkk-syd (tg).

Yep contact TG Sydney, some might be reluctant to help though. I had a friend who, after a TG schedule change, was able to fly 3 days earlier and have a stopover (when not allowed to) and even had her hotel stay paid for by TG!

Noooooo~~~~~!!!!!!

Was looking forward to burn LM as much as possible. Let's hope ANA will service SYD with their 77W and offer first class, and CA continues with their 77W. Otherwise, the 50k F to north Asia is just for look only....

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Except that I can't select middle aisle seats on the TG website. I might have to put in a call to Thai and see if I can get row 12 or 14 per ExpertFlyer.

View attachment 41526

I phoned Thai and they wouldn't allocate to rows 12 or 14 middle blocked seats. They have her seated in 14K, so that will do.

Just done my first ever LM redemption today (2x F, SYD BKK late Dec 2015) !

Selected 1A & 1K

Q:

If you were to see an F seat on the same TG plane on which you have a confirmed (with e-ticket number) J seat, what's the best way to swap ?

Cancel the J after grabbing the F seat ?

Call / email to request the change ?

What would you suggest ?

Thanks

I didn't realize the plane change, which means no more F from BKK-HND.

But to answer ur question, the best bet is to book F if u see them, then cancel the J. This is a lot simpler and cheaper. To change would cost $150 and cancel just costs $50.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I got the booking approved! I managed to find flights departing NRT to BKK in F, so did the same thing (screenshots...etc). Now I have TG641 NRT-BKK connecting TG475 BKK-SYD with 3:50 layover in BKK. All for 50000 miles. That's 15.5hr of F! Bargain!

It looks like LM is still willing to book manually for us. So for those that didn't have much luck, it was pretty much a bad agent. But I guess with emails, it's not as convenient as HUACA.

Well, the saga is not over yet until they called me to issue the ticket. Just to confirm, how long does the booking usually hold? 72hrs? When should I start panicking if they don't call?

Keep an eye on the thread of successful booking. If I get it ticketed without issue, I'll post it there, otherwise, I'll whinge here.

It varies. And don't necessarily expect a call during the day our time... I got my first call at around 9am... but by the evening that hadn't ticketed, so I emailed them back. The next call was after midnight!

If you haven't heard from them by 48 hours I'd be sending them a reminder. Although TG is usually pretty good at holding holds.
