There's all sorts of reasons why any of us may be off-line for a few days.

madrooster comes across as being vey helpful, so will be worth the wait. :)

Indeed. He has always been very prompt and attentive. There was a case I had to wake him up around mid night, and he stayed up till 3-4 in the morning working out possible solutions. As I wrote earlier, I don't hesitate to recommend him. I was just teasing him (whenever he gets to catch up with this thread) by saying I was too small a fish for him to bother with me... :)

I concur that MadRooster is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He went the extra mile to help me when I had to change my RTW AY itinerary (mid trip) due to family illness late last year. I'll be booking my next trip with him as soon as I'm ready.

Does it ever come available of the xmas break. Ie maybe leave mid December return mid/late Jan?

It does and I've certainly ticketed people on it during the xmas period before, but the pattern lately is that they blackout the xmas period from about mid Dec to 2nd week Jan.

The current version of it does permit travel during the xmas period with a bit of a workaround. I suspect versions of this fare later in the year will blackout xmas so I would get in sooner than later before they start doing blackouts.

I'm interested in the Finnair RTW for a few months over Christmas especially if I can get some magic sectors - not just out December and back January - just going back through the thread and it seems a bit inconsistent but does anyone have better knowledge of when the specials normally come out

Specifically what specials are you referring to?

He seems to have gone a bit quiet recently... or maybe I'm just too small a fish for him to bother with :)

I'm on my second international trip already for the year so I've been on the road a lot more than usual lately. I'm currently typing this whilst at NRT...

Can't expect someone to keep offering without getting any business in return. My take is he can offer a competitive quote. PM him.

Honestly, I knew about the sale being on again, although @Mattg beat me to posting about it so I didn't want to double up.

@madrooster looking at the RTW specials but for over Christmas - not ready to book yet. I will be travelling outside the mid December to mid January period (hoping to be away for at least 8 weeks) and was wondering if AY will release more specials later in the year.

TIA

Actually what I meant was people shouldn't just keep picking your brains. My suggestion is they throw some business your way in return for your superior knowledge on this particular subject. I will when I am ready.

Edit: My situation is I am prepared to pay for a RTW but also have a few hundred points with Cathay it would be nice to somehow use as well. I don't want to do too many countries but spend say 10days in Santiago...something ... something ... then land in HEL. HEL-CPH. Rent a car for say 4 weeks do Northern Germany, Hamburg, Bremmen, into Groningen, Frisland, back to Germany, more of Denmark...either CPH-HEL or drive to HEL. Shoulder months don't worry me, summer is over-rated, too many people.

Mid-summer is the best time to be in Denmark and north of that. You go to Stockholm, Helsinki and the country towns and sometimes it feels you have the whole town to yourself.

They usually do so you should be OK. Just watch out for the fact they may start adding blackouts... that will screw over your plans very quickly when they do that.

Thanks - I'll be in touch as soon as I can firm up plans

good evening.

Have started a dialogue with travel agent re RTW and it is proving to be difficult with availability for september (in and out of USA, and into japan). After much too-ing and fro-ing i thought we had it in the bag, but then when it was on paper, i had overnight stay in HEL for EU connection, and an A330 into KIX.

So some questions to enable me to search in experflyer what options avail.

1) I should be searching for I class fares? Y/N?
2) I have to be AY in & out of HEL? no code shares allowed? Ie no JAL into NRT?
3) what are my other AY options for Asia after SIN & BKK?
3) Can i get a higher fare for a single sector only? Or does that just blow me out of the sale fare rules, and all sectors can be booked in the higher fare class

That is all i have for now.

Thanking you in advance.
