You sure as heck don't want to be anywhere near Jeddah airport during Haj! Still loving the TR, esp the details on lounges and in-flight.

A relaxing day today shopping and swimming by the pool, it’s a lovely 33 defrees here . Last night we went and had some street food , satays, chicken birayni , naan bread, tandoori Chicken and couple Pepsi came to a grand total of $16 Australian.
We are staying at the stripes hotel KL , a autopgraph collection hotel. It’s only a year old with a nice infinity pool and bar, the rooms are nice and modern. $110 a night for 5 star, amazing the difference in price between and KL and their neighbor Singapore !!!
Tomorrow we fly out to Perth on malaysia airlines at 730pm. It cost $399 one way business class and it was on the A330 and literally one day after I booked it I got a email with the change to a 737. Ah well stil beats Y.

Currently sitting in the golden regional lounge before our flight leaves in 90 minutes to Perth. It’s nice and new and hardly anyone here with great views outside. Just had some chicken stir fry with rice and glass of champagne.
Our final flight Back to Australia to Perth for 2 nights to see some friends and then onto Adelaide.

We boarded at that the last minute waiting for our duty free to Arrive which never did! The staff at the airport just laughed and were no help what so ever and said tell Perth airport about it!! Yer because I’m sure they care about KL duty free stuff. Business class was full 16/16 and we left the gate 8 minutes late and we sat next to the runway for 35 minutes while we watched planes land and a couple take-off. Finally we were airborne and orders were taken for dinner.

Nuts were brought out and pre dinner drinks offered. We ordered a couple champagnes but about ten minutes later the FA came out and apologise that it wasn’t cold and they need 20 minutes. So a vodka and soda it was in the meantime. Unfortunately the soda was hot so it was barely drinkable!

Satays were served and they were fantastic, I could eat a dozen of them without blinking.

Mains meal was served , I choose the beef with vermicelli noodles and it came with the beef salad and chocolate mousse cake. Beef was nice, wasn’t too filling and the salad was just standard with a bit of shaved roast beef like what you get from coles. After everyone finished they brought out the bread rolls and garlic bread , they obviously forgot so I had two pieces of the garlic bread before eating the mousse cake which was super nice.

I could tell the FA seemed nervous and not quite polished but was really nice and friendly, she commented later on that she is brand new and sorry if I made a mistake ! We told her she was great but wouldn’t of thought a airline would put a brand FA In business class.

We eventually got some champagne and were proactively refilled for the rest of the flight and that was all she wrote. We landed 10 min late into Perth and back in Australia and like that the holiday is over!

Thanks for following along , sorry for the grammar and spelling mistakes as I did this all On my iPhone on the go. We loved Azerbaijan and defiantly recommend anyone to check it out , safe , clean , cheap and beautiful. We loved the Baltic cruise, good fun with great ports and of course Russia. Saudi airlines exceeded our expectations, probably helped by being on the Dreamliner but for the price for a bed and a three course meal it’s unbeatable.

Now it’s my time to get read everyone else’s trip reports for some inspiration for a new destination to explore!

Cheers

It is indeed, just ‘like that and it’s all over’. So, to help us over the blahs we are booking a Nile trip next year in December. On Uniworld Cruises. Of course this is after our Viking Alaska Cruise next May and also where MrP is fulfilling one of his bucket lists and that is camping in the Grand Canyon. Me- I’d prefer to have a tooth extraction. So I’ll just have to shop on those days.

Thanks for the time you have spent. A great variety of places & your photos will make great memories
