It’s the end of our second day in st Petersburg, another lovely sunny 22 degrees day. We had pre booked our tours with TJ travel tours , it was $210us pp for a full two day tour compared to the boat which was $380us pp.
Yesterday we started off seeing St. Isaacs cathedral, the 3rd biggest in the world, very impressive inside.
We then went on a metro ride,
Russia’s underground train stations go
As far down as 100m and our made of marble, with chandeliers as lights, truly unreal for a train station.

We then set off for Peterhof, seeing the palace and walking through the gardens. This place is huge and I mean huge , the gardens are beautiful with over 50 water fountains there. Makes Adelaide botanic gardens look like a beer garden out the back of a pub!

In the afternoon we headed to the church of spilt blood , the outside was having one of the “onions” restored so there was scaffold all around which was a shame. Inside again was spectacular.
Everything here is huge , every building , statue , and it has gold everywhere. If Australia had one of these palaces it would be a main attraction for the country, st. Petersburg has hundreds!

The next day we went to the big mama ,
The hermitage museum , this place is on steroi_s, it’s mammoth. Inside would have to be the most bling I’ve seen. Astounding and well worth seeing inside and out.

We did a canal ride through the city, it was beautiful day to sit out on the deck and enjoy the scenery watching the young families and kids playing as it was Sunday today.

Catherine’s palace awaited us , this place is huge as well, strange that !
Inside was extremely nice and one of the rooms called the amber room is spectacular, photos weren’t allowed but apparently if just that one room was re Built today it would cost $2 billion US.

It’s been two big days in Russia but well worth it, Everything is extreme here.

Sounds like you are having a ball. We will be just behind you to St Petersburg, on a second visit, and have to agree it is really spectacular.

We will be there next weekend! :) Hope the weather will stay fine for us!
I suppose we will be embarking while you folks are disembarking at CPH!!

Great photos and wonderful memories of St P - looks like you're having a ball. Keep going

Great photos. St Petersburg is my favourite City!

The Amber room is a modern construct. Given by the German Government a number of years ago; the original was stripped out by the naz_s, and sent to Germany and is now lost.

Today was a more relaxing day in the port of Helsinki. The tram stop is right at the harbour so we caught the tram into the city centre was takes about 15 min. There’s Trams a plenty in Helsinki!

We checked out the Helsinki cathedral, walking around it , it was beautiful. It happened to be Finland’s 100 year anniversary of the armed forces so they had a military display with tanks, rocket launchers , surface to air missiles and other military equipment. It was awesome seeing all of them and sitting in a tank and the trucks. After that we walked down to the market on the water and bought some souvenirs. It was another beautiful day , sunny and 20 degrees so we strolled along to a industrial harbour , where there was cafes and where the locals were. We had a coffee with a lovely view away from the hustle and bustle. We walked around for another couple hours , Helsinki was very clean and pretty, we defiantly rated it higher then Copenhagen. All up a nice relaxing day in a beautiful city on perfect day , full marks Helsinki

I don't normally post my pics on some-one else's trip report, but thought you might like these shots of the Amber Room as a souvenir :D (Hope you don't mind.)

The person showing us around said "You can't take photographs in the Amber Room, but you can take pictures from outside it." So I did.

Clever ! Bit of experience there.

Stockholm it was today, well the port of nynashamn. This got change about 6 weeks before we left , we got a email informing us of the port change. It’s about a hour from Stockholm by train. Norwegian arranged a bus transfer from the port to the train station ( 10 min away) and gave us free train tickets to head into the Stockholm ( about 50 mins)

Today was the coldest day of our Trip, it was only 13 with a wind chill factor of about -1. It was freezing so we decided to do the hop on hop off bus as it was so cold and spread out the city of Stockholm. We got off at the old city and walked around for a while before getting back on the bus and going across the to island over the side and got off at stop 5. A 3 minute walk away was the best view of the old city and the marina / water. A great view of the lot and the probably the most famous pic of Stockholm. We walked along the front and went to this awesome little cafe with floor to ceiling windows and the best view overlooking everything. It was stunning, we had cauliflower soup which was about $16aud but it was huge and absolutely delish and with a A+ view. That Warmed us up and i defiantly Recommend coming here for soup and salad. I’ll post a pic of the receipt for the name of the cafe.

After that we got back on the bus and did the circuit, very pretty Stockholm, it was Shame we only had one day and not several , seems there is a bit to do with the museums. At about 330pm we hoped back onto the train and headed back to the ship.

We have dinner tonight in the specialty restaurant Le Bistro before a day at sea tomorrow then arriving back in Copenhagen.

We have arrived in Copenhagen after a day at sea. All good things come to
A end, it’s been a great cruise, lots of laughs with some British people and plenty of drinks and food.
We spent few hours in the spa yesterday and a older gentleman hopped in. As he got out and stood up, he wasn’t wearing any underwear and his bush onions were dangling down and nearly in ms henleybeach pina colada! A bit of chuckle and the dear old man had no idea.
Today is looking around Copenhagen again before heading back to Istanbul for the night tomorrow
