Back to the Big Apple with a few stops along the way

Not many photos from to, it was great weather 17-18 the sun was out so it was just a day or walking and taking in the sights. Taking MissM through SoHo and Greenwich was not as expensive as anticipated however there was a lot of time spent in shops. We started the day by catching the subway to South Ferry, caught the ferry to Stanton Island and back then walked back up through Little Italy, China Town, Lower east Side East Village, SoHo, Greenwich and back to Midtown.

The last couple of photos on the way back to the hotel, Bryant Park. On a recommendation from @Cruiser Elite we went to dinner at Gallaghers, it was excellent. MrsM does not eat red meat and had the lobster tail, my protégé and carnivore in training had the steak which was excellent, on arrival back at the hotel MissM commented it was the best steak she had ever had and can we come back.

I know you've been there lots, but have you (or Mrs & Miss) walked the Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn towards Manhattan? If its a fine day, I'll do it any time; stupendous views from the bridge and also the parks at the Brooklyn end.
Watch out for the bike riders as you stop to take photos!

, I do not understand why the subway has rail tracks but the trains also run tyres.

@Matt_01 I think you’ll find it’s modelled on Paris where the same tyres are used on their Metro... @BAM1748 May be able to add to that...

I will digress for a post as during this trip I have chosen not to stay in chains that I have status with for a number of reasons. Everyone knows travel does not go as planned and these are just a couple of little hick ups I have run into.
.

Then after arriving back from our evening outing there was more water and chocolates.
That’s great service recovery for the ‘Otel...gift and all!

The rails act as guides and also there is a rail for picking up the power from. It's a complicated system but proven in some cities.

Pros, useful where grade might be steep say under a city or stops are very short distances apart and you want small head ways between trains as braking is better, the cons are it uses more power and more complexity means more maintenance.

I'm not personally a fan, but in very high density areas where mass of users can contribute to the extra costs it has its place.

I use dial7 to and from the airports (LGA and EWR) which do not have regulated pricing but works for us. As for getting around NYC I use the subway and have not had to use Uber or Taxis.
