Today booked syd-bne Y, 5400 velocity points (+$40 "fees" or points). Told my daughter (freq J flyer with my qf points) I'll be getting 2 min noodles...oh yum! she said, seriously. Bainvirgin in future for her.

Sorry to disappoint but the noodles are only for those in J (exclusive). Your SYD-BNE flight in Y will be catered with cups of water and breakfast muesli bars.

Game time!

Below is the Virgin Australia retail menu prior to March 2020:

Here is a list of products now being sold off by VA's cater gate gourmet:

See how many items you can spot and there are no fantastic noodles insight!
Aviation across the World was very different in (early) March 2020 compared to today.
Nor was Virgin in Voluntary Administration.

Lets just wait and see what happens when they officially take the reins. Speculation does not achieve anything. Many here have no sense of humour so lets be serious. Some of you are getting your knickers in a knot about something you know nothing about. You don't know what the resultant airline will be, so don't stress. Flying will not be the same for a long time, if ever, you don't need a 3 course degustation on a 1 hr flight and no airline will give a rats if you go to the competition because chances are someone will go the other way to replace you. We have had it too good for too long and honestly this might bring things back to a realistic level. Who needs lie flats on a 4 hr transon? nice? of course, necessary? not at all. Of course the fares would be expected to fall, will wait and see if that happens (doubt it though, supply and demand etc)

I am sure once Bain officially takes over they will do a press realise or something to show off the new CEO in front of a aircraft with crews near her

I really don't understand why you expect a food service on a 1-2 hour flight. You don't need to eat during this time. Certainly water,tea/coffee but who cares if there is nothing to eat for this very short time frame.

In economy I don’t think I’d care. In business I’d expect something or a comparable reduction in fare to match the reduced service.
Also if travelling for work it can mean you get a meal at a sensible time and make use of fear time rather than eating on arrival which may be late.

Will Branson be there? Surely the Queensland Government Airline can make a quarantine exemption for people who bring so much money to the state?

I can't believe that no one is outraged at the use of Fantastic for instant noodles when I would be expecting the top range Nissin if I were in J!! I love instant noodles but not Fantastic. The irony of calling Fantastic noodles that when it is clearly not. Drastic noodles maybe...

Depends on the situation.

I got up early and had breakfast (around 5am), then left for MEL (which was over an hour away by car). Check in and security, then wanted to eat a snack before my flight but nothing is open in MEL. Fly up to BNE. By the time l checked in to the hotel after all the rigmarole of Covid, it was after 3pm. Dinner was 6pm. Thats a long stretch without lunch.

Probably just a press conference at the VA office in Southbank, with them spruiking their plans.
Probably too ostentatious for an airport display of her.
PS also didn't front up in front of an aircraft.

Can I be so bold to ask, what is the procedure these days of that Qld border (re covid) pass thingo.
Do they just check your pass online, or your details online, and that is it?
Or is it more so they check every single pass very strictly, so it took a very long time, come to think of it, thats probably it.
Maybe by June next year, the rules would have changed up there, have been to Bne before, have an urge to fly again, but if its too hard, I might just use VFF points to Syd only.
I think Pushka flew to Bne a while back with QF, but I guess my post (q) got assessed as non compliant.
I live in SA, (non Vic, love the place, but not a resident of the state)...

Sign of the times... that didn't take them long to stuff me around, booked yesterday, flight cancelled today! VA SYD-BNE flights reduced from 3/day to 1/day, and I don't do early mornings. No noodles (or muesli bar) for me:(. Points refund request had to be over the ph, but was painless.

Sure

Go here for border pass - Queensland Border Declaration Pass

As l came from a 'hotspot' (regional VIC), mandatory quarantine. You have to show the police/defence force your border pass, fill out paperwork, luggage, bus, hotel.

If you aren't coming from a hotspot, no quarantine.

I hope the site to get the QLD border declaration pass is updated to no longer list Sydney as a hotspot, so I can get through to QLD without the need to quarantine from Nov 1.

Actually, it's half a Muesli bar. Not a full one. Bit like a fun-size Mars bar.

That's fair enough. Just don't advertise that a 'meal or snack and a drink are included' as part of the fare (as VA have and were doing)....

Great, chic peas give me gas. Lucky a. Im not flying and b. the planes aren't full
I flew BNE-CNS last friday, I think there were 6 free seats in Y and 2 in J. Not bad for a route that has three carriers and multiple flights a day.
