Bali in relation to Schappelle Corby

To put it all in perspective, I saw this post through Facebook today (Mitchell is the name of her son):

Today we are hearing about how Schapelle has spent 9 years 4 months and 2 days in prison **yawn** so I thought I would share this for a bit of perspective ... 9 years, 8 months and 23 days ago Mitchell stopped walking, and by default lost his "freedom" too. The only difference? Unlike the Corby case, we know with 100% certainty that Mitch did nothing wrong, nothing to deserve the sentence he has been given. So to the Murdochs, who are currently in negotiations deliberating how much this "story" is worth, take a moment and think of all the things that you could do with that money to help innocent children regain their "freedom". You could buy mobility equipment, interactive technology, or fund respite carers so their parents can be mums and dads rather than nurses and therapists. A convicted drug trafficker is NOT a headline, it is not something to celebrate. But a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Neuroblastoma or any of the diseases that are robbing children of their "freedom" or their lives ... THAT would be something that was worthy of a front page billing in every publication and television station in town.
I love a good dose of reality...

It's currently been shared 2,254 times in the last 21 hours...

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Well there's the thing. You can't have it both ways.

People say that her crime was committed in Indonesia so the laws and penalties she faced must be their laws which are way harsher than ours. That's her tough luck.

But Indonesia has no such laws governing profiting from Crime. They are Australian laws.

Have the feeling the Aus Gov stopped CC from receiving the proceeds of her book, so assume it could be the same for the TV deal.

Pretty much, if she didn't look like the way she does, would we even know her name, let alone still talk about her 10 years after her arrest? Who here can name all 9 members of the Bali nine?

Each to their own but she does not rate as a sort in my books

I think it is simple make it illegal here for any person to reward a person or associated entities to profit from a criminal act

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Blood is always thicker than water and those of you casting assertions should just ask what you would do for your father, mother, brother... Etc. would you die for them? I would!
I guess it is all relative. Pardon the pun. Starting to sound like Hvr!

My father, mother and brother would never put me in that type of situation and nor would they want me to spend my life in jail, and risk capital punishment, for their crimes.

Apologies if that did not answer your question.

Not only that JohnK, I can't imagine how a father could put a vulnerable daughter through such an ordeal just to save himself.

Because he was a low life?
This family does not think the way families on these forums think. They indulge in criminal activities. And when sprung get angry with everyone but themselves.

I am sure you are right, they couldn't think like the people on these forums and put loved ones in such a terrible position. But I guess I was partly responding to The Rok who was saying that some form of family loyalty was at play here - and that if he is right, it seems to have been pretty much one-way!

I think of all the family members, Schappelle is the closest to normal. And I do think that her loyalty to her father was at play but he was too much of a low life to even think about what that meant for her.

I hope they have frighten her beyond belief into just shutting up and fade away like all convicted criminals....

"Bali prison boss Farid Junaedi says it would be "stupid" for Schapelle Corby to talk to journalists, a day after the parole board warned any interview may land her in jail.
The backlash in Indonesia against Schapelle Corby's luxury accommodation and rumoured $2 million interview fee she may earn is growing, prompting the head of the Bali parole board, Ketut Artha, to pay an unscheduled visit on Wednesday to the villa compound where she's staying.

That's a good thing. What could she have said anyway. She can't say she didn't do it as that's a parole violation. She can't complain about Kerobokan for the same reason. I guess she could talk about her family loyalty.

I wonder if this means Seven will be getting a kick in the pants.

Also it seems that Newman (QLD Premier) has been called out on his hypocrisy over his claim to enforce the proceeds of crime laws (if the news reports and claims by the family are true).

I do not watch anything Corby, do not know of anyone that does, the public at large has had enough of this fiasco, if anyone ever pays a bundle for the story they must be fools.
