Bangkok - First Lounge

If you want a first lounge flying Qantas there is nothing stopping you using the Cathay Lounge which I beleive has a first section...

There is no F section in either of the CX lounges.
They don't even toilets for that matter. But all of their flights are fairly short and regional.

Not sure if there is an MH lounge. They were using the Royal Silk lounge last time I went through.

It is listed on the OneWorld website as a MH lounge, so is JAL who I beleive use a 3rd party site.

guys you are better off in the EK lounge anyway! It's pretty good!

still trying to get my head around this, do WP have access to the EK lounge if flying on QF24? Or only on QF8418 or EK418?

My understanding is yes. Qantas passengers with gold or higher status get access to the EK lounge at BKK if they are flying on QF or EK. Qantas club passengers will only get access to the Qantas lounge. QF Gold or higher passengers on Jetstar will only get access to the Qantas lounge.

Except of course the reports here are the "Qantas lounge" is now a BA lounge and is closed at the time QF24 leaves. So really the loosers here are QC members.

My understanding and from what others have reported in this thread was that it was only the first class lounge that was closed at the time of the QF24 departure and but the business class lounge was open for the QF departure.

We must be reading different threads

Although I must admit my assumption is both the FIRST and BUSINESS class lounges are closed at the time the Qantas flight leaves, not just the first class lounge.

your assumption is wrong. scooby is talking about the BA First lounge.

ok thanks for that!

It will be interesting to see how long until the business lounge also closes with the JSA now gone and with the BKK lounges being nominally BA even under the JSA. Unless of course they have done a Singapore with the current first lounge to become a BA lounge and the current business to be a QF lounge.

I suspect that's exactly what's happened. That way, QF still operate two lounges (one in BKK and one in SIN, rather than both in SIN), and BA still operate two lounges (one in BKK and one in SIN, rather than both in BKK).

There is a difference between BA lounge closed and denied entry. By the way QF has the better of the 2 lounges in BKK. By far.

There is no MH lounge in BKK. They use the Thai lounge.

Someone better tell OneWorld then.

Bangkok, Thailand - oneworld

Noticing of course that other OneWorld airlines that use 'third party lounges' such as RJ, AB and S7 are not listed as having a lounge but MH is and of course being third party the 'MH' lounge is not open to other OneWorld passengers.

That is correct. MH do not have their own lounge in BKK. Thye use the TG lounge.

I believe Qantas was the driver of the lounge design and operation at Suvarnabhumi, even down to the furniture and PC workstations.

I think Qantas have simply surrendered their (part?) of the lease on the lounge that was designated "First".

So to summarise..

Old BA/QF First Lounge = BA Lounge. Opening at 8.20pm-?? -- Smaller lounge, albeit with tarmac views on same side as CX lounge.
Old BA/QF Business Lounge = QF Lounge. Open 4.30pm-?? -- Larger lounge, but with limited views

QF Elites should also get access to the EK Lounge (which seems to be in Concourse D)
