Hi folks
Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel that's a very short walk (>10 mins) from an Airport Rail Link station? Other than the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai. Preferably 4-Star or better.

Mercure Makkasan, but a bit of an open walk.

Otherwise switch to the underground/MRT via the walkway and take it one stop to Sukhumvit where you have multiple choices.

Do you want to be near Bangkok centre?

I find Ladkrabang OK for 1-2 night stays and there is also free shuttle to/from airport and I think not far from railway.

I think the Park Nine Hotel Suvarnabhumi airport is suitable.

Thanks John. Yes, I'd like to stay more toward Bangkok centre, but also have a quick and very simple trip from and back to the airport.

I have stayed several times at the NASA hotel at Ramkamhaeng station when overnighting at BKK. It's not 4 star (maybe 3) but it is very convenient. Less than 5 mins walk from the station (no steps). Just buy the most expensive room and you'll be fine.

You couldn't find another hotel that was more convenient to BKK airport, but if you need to stay in a 5* place, it mightn't be suitable.

Thanks clifford, I'll check it out. Have you explored the local area when you've stayed there?

toward Bangkok centre,
I've only been to Bangkok 30 times since 1992 and spent coughulatively more than 12 months in the city, but didn't realise Bangkok has a centre!

And maybe for once AI agrees with me!

'Bangkok doesn't have a clearly defined "city centre" due to its sprawling development...'

'No single centre:
Unlike many cities, Bangkok's urban sprawl means there isn't one distinct area that functions as a city centre.'

'People who think that Bangkok has a city centre have never been to Bangkok.'

I do acknowledge that the last entry may be an hallucination!

Thanks, Dr. No disputing that (I've been to Bangers too), but I think JohnK's meaning was clear (ie, as opposed to near the airport), and I was referencing that.
