Has anyone had experience with them? How closely do they scrutinise their applications? Obviously Qantas CU seem the harshest based on forum reports here, but am curious for other perspectives.

yeah, well. I got chewed up and spat out by BankWest online application process in about 15 seconds after pushing "submit" last night. THAT'S harsh :)
Funny that their parent approved me, subject to a few human checks, in about the same time a few months ago.

I found Qantas CU thorough but fair. And my dealings with them since have been great.

Good luck in your applications. I find it all pretty random. I remember being really upset with my first refusal. But now I shrug my shoulders and carry on with the next one. If a company really annoys me I just get SWMBO to apply. She is an application clean skin

Bankwest had no problems with me getting platinum this month on the basis I got rid of another card, but didn't ask for any details of it. Key thing was proving who I was, and even that was easy as the additional cardholder was my wife, who already had a card with them in case I died (morbid, but just in case assets were frozen).

Most frustrating thing has been getting the actual card. There was an eight-day delay in dispatch, and when I started receiving reminders re the card to activate it, I contacted them, so they promptly cancelled the card, and issued another with clear house delivery instructions. The call centre's statement was that the card has a note on the front saying RTS if delivered to a PO Box (WTF?), so must have travelled up the Stuart Highway and back from my PO Box.
The card arrived the next day at the house, dead on arrival. This story has been debunked since with follow-up phone calls and tweets, with some angry people at their end saying they should have known about the card printers having issues.

Anyway - I'm expecting new card tomorrow (PIN turned up today), a mere 19 days after the initial online app.

I'm looking forward to forex free transactions and points, plus the six-months interest free to cover the ski-bob bike I want to buy in Austria.

mmmm..possibly I should have "promised" to get rid of the other cards :)

Remember this card is capped at 200k points to QF per year. Have gone to the cap twice in 2 years so the card is out of the wallet again until next August.

I figured for the $99 fee on the Bankwest Card, I'd make that back in forex savings very quickly ($3000 spend compared with most cards at 3.3%), and still get points. I'll probably look for another card with better rewards once back from Europe, and keep Bankwest for OS travel.

ANZ approved me for Qantas FF last year no problem, this year nothing is changed but they're being really annoying with my attempt to get the Low Fee Card to do a BT, wanting all sorts of extra documents like tax returns and housing documents etc. Weird.

This relates to the new legislative requirements that came in this year rather than anything specific to ANZ...

You do not get points for FOREX purchases as per their T&C.

I had no probs with my application. I was approved online, did my 100 point check online and only needed to send 2 most recent payslips for income verification. No other docs were required.

I have been rejected twice - pissing me off.

Any of you guys that have been approved online self employed?

Yes,Mrscove has one thru her BankWest private banker when we were adjusting the BPay limit about 18 months ago.
Cruiser it is only for 200k of QF points which you can get on a Woolies EDRCC and keep going seeing that one is uncapped.

Do not apply online as my friend who works for BW told me that there are some bugs for cc application, 99% people will get declined automatically.

Careful Cruiser I am a CBA shareholder and there isn't much left over after the CEO ,the CFO and the Board of Directors have taken their chop of the cake.
