UPDATE:

Account cancelled.

Took a call today from Bankwest. They acknowledged their mistakes. Offered a pro rata refund of around $120. This will be deposited to my Commonwealth Bank savings account.

Disappointed that they didn't put up much of a fight.

Well done. I couldn't get anything back from them.

hmm. Probably beyond me. Easier targets I think with some of the other offerings that are about.

QFF points just posted, but will keep the card since it does not have international transaction fees.. maybe will try to request for the BW World card upgrade..

Applied for the world card but online system only gave the standard card so I didn't bother going through witht eh application.

received a call a few days later and said I'd wanted the world card but decided against going through since only offered the standard card.

had to email through last 2 payslips and they got me the world card.

With the annual fee due soon, and wanting to free up some credit limit $ as I eye my next application, I called BankWest yesterday and cancelled my BankWest Qantas MC. They offered to waive the annual fee, but I declined and went ahead with the cancellation.

This morning I realised that I'm an idiot. What I should've done is accepted their offer, then cancelled my long-held BankWest Zero Platinum MC instead. Credit limits are the same, so it would've had the same result on my total credit limit figure, and I would've continued to get 0.5ppd on O/S spend.

Oh well.

Most CCs can be 'uncancelled' within three months of cancellation. Give them a call to see if offer still stands and cancel the other card instead.

I too went to cancel the card ahead of being slugged the annual fee and got the fee waved. Thought about it for about 30 seconds before agreeing to keep it. The lack of fx fees makes it a keeper.

This is good news. This is my everyday spend card so hoping they continue to waive the fee next time it's up for renewal for me.
