Bankwest Transaction account - Earn 10,000 bonus Qantas Points

Hahaha turns out Bankwest have long memories. Applied for this new deal but found out I’m subsequently banned from opening a Qantas transaction account. “Due to conduct back in 2016” 😂

Ahh bringing back memories of first class emirates PER > DXB > JFK return. All on their dime.

Expecting this may be coming a few people’s way though I closed my wives account before they closed so may get her to apply!

I am guessing you gave them a call?

Those were fun days :) They said they were going to close my account in writing but never did and I still use it as my main transaction account today (less running any automation scripts though)!

Does anyone know with the new promotion whether the 15 transactions are within a calendar month or from when you create your account?

TIA

You need to do 10 transactions each month for three months. Easiest solution is to go to Coles, buy something and do 10 split payments at the checkout. The wording re the transactions is "For the first 3 months from the date of Account opening, customers must complete a minimum of 10 eligible transactions per month using a Bankwest Debit Mastercard."

Applied yesterday and also for the “got to Aus post” treatment. Did that yesterday lunch time. Have heard nothing yet, not even an email acknowledging the application.

Got the below email this afternoon. Email itself doesn’t really explain much, or even make sense frankly. But pretty sure it’s a no. Haven’t decided whether I’ll call or not but leaning towards not bothering.

Yes I had this too, went to Australia Post for ID check as requested and have heard nothing. Wonder if it’s because I’m on the bad boys list!!
Went to Aussie Post last Wednesday, heard nothing.. then got account opening details just now :)

Now, to link it to Afterpay to get the transaction count up!

I got something like this, a request to call them as they need extra information! Like you don’t think I’ll bother.

I don't wish the bonus points to drop until November (Qantas Points Club).

With this "first 3 months from the date of Account opening" it seems that would mean to qualify an account opened 20th September would have until 19th October for first 10 then 19th November for next 10 and then 19th December for the remaining 10 transactions.

Does anyone read this differently?

so I transferred the $2k over and transferred $15 back to my account just to make sure I got all the numbers right. The $15 came immediately

Then tried to transfer $950 and get this message (when I did the transfer they said it could take 2-3 days) That's just cr@p

Dear VPS

This is a courtesy email to let you know that your recent payment of $950.00 has been delayed. Funds should be available to your payee in 1-3 days.

Simply log in to the Bankwest App or Bankwest Online Banking to view. Should you need assistance, chat to us 24/7 today.

Thanks,
Bankwest

Bankwest can get snotty with Osko payments above $1k. It also struggles with payments not linked to Osko. My payment to my home loan took a couple of days to show up.

I used to have a Business Account with Bankwest - NAB closed it a month ago.

But new payees were indeed problematic.

Just signed up for this account to go through the process for the 10,000 points. For me it was super easy, account opened immediately. Whole thing took 5 minutes.

Hi all, first time poster: Looking at opening one of these, but already have a non Qantas Bankwest TX account. T&C's is a bit unclear as to if I open one of these if I will get the bonus points or not (ie it refers to not having opened a Qantas TX account specifically in the last 24 months in one part, but then refers to a Bankwest TX account in another part). Guess I could just open one and see what happens.

As you hold a transaction account, you're not a new customer (you need to have closed a Qantas account at least 24 months previously, or a non-Qantas one at least 30 days previously): "Customers who have closed a Transaction Account (not including a Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account) more than 30 days prior, will be considered a new Transaction Account holder."

Did this yesterday and was very simple. It was odd they asked about your employment status for a transaction/savings account, never had that from a bank before unless you are seeking credit.

Transferring from WBC to BW via Osko only took a few seconds. Also set up an online save to sweep the $2k deposit to at end of each month to make sure I get some interest give the tx account doent pay any.

Weirdly you cant get their Easy saver without a non-QF BW transaction account so had to go for the Hero Saver that requires $200 deposit a month (which is fine as it can come out of the QF tx account).

I too am hoping the month is from opening date i.e 14-Oct to 13-Nov and not Calendar month; as the card may not arrive before end of October.

I plan to buy 10 coffees each month, saves the trouble of splitting payments at Coles but if card comes very late n the month then I will have to do some small Coles ones.

Once bonus points have hit I'm not sure I will keep this one unless transferring the $2k in and back out each month doesnt set off any red flags.

I found this with ING too. Transferring money to ING was instant; but anything over $900 out got a delay message. It meant for me instead of being able to close account in one transfer and wait 3 days; I had to do 2 smaller transfers a day apart.

How long from applying and approval does it take to get the physical card? Going OS 26.10

I'm not sure this will work, reading the excluded transaction types it says "Payments from the Account made without your card" of course I may be reading that wrong.

Anyway I just applied...got approved straight away as imported all my details from my existing BW credit card acct.. it says 7-10 business days to get card so will be touch and go before I go away...
