Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

My account is still open despite saying it was being closed on the 5th. I have moved most of the cash out but still had a direct debit trigger fine today and haven't been using it this month for any payments. Guess they are as time effective at closing accounts as closing loopholes...

Wouldn't be surprised that bankwest have finally discovered this thread, had a good read and decided to post everyone's August points to avoid unnecessary FOS interaction. Thank you BW and AFF!

What about transaction, and bank balances, that have been made during September? What are the chances that these will appear on 5th October?

I *think* they have internally blocked our QFF numbers so I'd need to get a new QFF account to do so.

EDIT: Yep. They are blocked from what I can tell.

I will try again in a few months after the dust settles. Not expecting too much though.

What does blocked mean? Just blocked on the transaction account or from all BW QF earning products?

Not 100% sure.

I've got 3 QFF numbers, 2 of them I can apply online myself, remove and add them back. The third which was on my main accounts throws an error if I try and add it.

The last of the accounts I had access to, was due for closure today. It's still open at this stage, though.

Just want to check. Have there been any closure dates specified, other than August 25, September 5 and September 13?

I would think it will be closed at midnight Perth time.

Mine were closed 30 August.

So it anyone going to try it again? Haha.

I still have one account left.

Ummm... I did it by accident...

Many months ago I set up a batch scheduler to run my scripts automatically if I was online at 5am. I was up early the other day saw a scheduler trigger and promptly shut it down and cancelled the job. Didn't think much more about it until I just logged on now... Looks like I have 30+ 1c payments go through before I had killed the job! I multi-threaded the job (to save time) so it ran pretty quick.

Any goodwill on BW's part, leaving my account open after the closing date of the 5th, is probably gone now...

It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. Please update (particularly after 5th Oct...)

Bizarrely, the account's still open a week after BW said it would be closed (13/09).

Could the FOS have had a word with BW, about closing accounts just 5 days after the account holder receives the notification?

have you received your final bill? one of the accounts i had access to was kept open beyond the notice date for several days, but then the final bill arrived and account disappeared from online banking

I got my final notice today.

And a bank cheque for the balance - which is interest accumulated after I cleaned it right out.

Suggest you frame that and mount in prominent position ( or maybe you could lodge for -a special clearance- you would not want to get caught with a bad cheque.
Beats my $0.02 cheque that the NAB sent me years ago

I assume you mean statement. There's been no statements issued since the advised closure date, as there have been no transactions and the account is still open. Should either of these change, then I would expect a statement.

Will be interesting to see if BW pay the QFF points earnt in September.

Yep, i did mean statement :)

I have just had a second look, our final statement arrived 7 calendar days after the closure date. The account was still visible in online banking all that time, but disappeared next day after the final statement was generated.
