Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Opened a new account and got my card, put some $ in the account and will transact tmrw.
How long do the points take to flow through to QFF account?
I think I will just close account after 10k has come through.

You won't be seeing the bonus points for several months.

Can you test micro payments and see if Bankwest still flags people for it once you get your 10k bonus points?

Anyone know if they are competent in paying the 5 points per a transaction each month? Hopefully it's not something the needs to be chased every month.

Just got my first deposit of points into my QFF account. Only made 5 transactions so far so still got another 5 to qualify for the 10000 bonus.

Got mine as well.

Seems to be no problems with the micro transactions:

BANKWEST - TRANSACTIONAL ACCOUNT 05-JUL-2018 - 365

Am I right in thinking that if my friend had one of these accounts in the past (aka ‘the good old days’), that they CAN NOT get the 10k bonus points, but they CAN start up the micropayment points-harvesting machine again?

I got 60 points into my QFF account this afternoon. I went back and checked the transactions and sure enough it looked like 12 valid transactions (there was a BPay and a Transfer in addition to this). However the transactions were up to and including today, with the first on the 1st July, so they must do a sweep up until that time. No 10k points however.

Dr Ralph, I see you got 365 points, therefore 73 transactions. I'd be interested in the mode you employed to perform these transactions. A couple of people in my team are Selenium Automation testers who can write online scripts (although recapture can bugger this up) - was it along those lines?

I opened an account on 23 June and also received my first lot of points yesterday.

The T&Cs say that the 10k points will be allocated 60 days after the 10 eligible transactions are completed.

Read the thread from the start. It was very possible to rack up thousands upon thousands of points using a macro, many did. It took more than 2 years before BW closed accounts. Doubt it will take that long this time around but I’m very interested in hearing how @Dr Ralph goes with it.

Call up Bankwest today to try to open another account after they closed mine in 2016 - there is a note on my profile saying that i can't open any type of account with bankwest . It look like they blacklist all account they closed in 2016

No way! Does this include credit card as well? Guess Bankwest holds grudges after all.

Question is ... Why allow it at all?

First time around, the "error" and the slow repair, can be explained away.

2nd time around?

My view on this is that monitoring on a continuous basis would be quite time consuming and hence expensive so they instead periodically review and cancel accounts. I'm still puzzled by the fact they didn't put clearer conditions into the T&Cs to support this whosale suspension of accounts rather than adopting this dodgy interpretation of people "abusing" the system. They control the system, they could clarify what is abuse in T&Cs but rather they rely on the "we can close your account for any reason and don't have to justify" argument.

This is true legally but in the context of the recent and ongoing Royal Commission would appear to totally fail the sniff/pub test about bad bank behaviour where BankWest are already looking fairly bad.
