Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Pretty painless so far...instant recognition of online ID submitted, account created, $2000 TF for this month...so a bit of bouncing back and forth for about 5 months, and hopefully 10K in QF pts. Now to convince +1 to open an account!!

Only annoying thing would be the need to physically go into a store to cancel...
Thanks to the OP for the heads up!

This PDF document suggests that a fee of $0.25 will be charged per transfer (no sum is mentioned) to a non-Bankwest account.

See INTERNET BANKING (p. 2)

I had similar concerns and so I sent secure mail to them and they replied: "This account when used online to transfer money does not incur a fee per transaction or per pay anybody transfer". So, I'm running with that... :p

As far as I can tell that's exactly what it means and I can't imagine them stopping you. Personally I'd value those points at around $9K (2.5cpp). 3.65% tax free return isn't bad at all!

Does anyone know if i can validate my girlfriends id in post office - she's overseas but i have certified copies...

I suggest you go to the PO and ask ... if they say yes then off you go, othwise you'll need to get her to contact the bank.

Its a joint account if that makes a difference? Mine was validated online, but despite entering her info in, her's wasn't

Just wanted to get the account open prior to the offer ending - but seems thats been extended now anyway?

Even for a joint account each person must do their own ID check.

Maybe contact Bank West explaining the situation and ask if they will allow you to post copies of documents certified by a JP. Worth a try.

Why did you open a joint account and not one each? Two accounts = 2 x 10000 points!

Something to keep in mind re this account so you don't get caught out.

My PAN was emailed to me on 28th April but I still have not received a plastic card or PIN.
I just got off the phone from Bank West and said to the operator that given my card and pin are still up to 9 days away, I assume that I will not have to deposit $2,000 this month.

I was informed that this is incorrect as my account was actually opened in April hence my PAN being emailed. Note that I was never given a BSB and account number, the operator gave it to me today when I asked.

My first impression is that their level of customer service leaves something to be desired.

I received my BSB and account number before receiving my card. I think i got it in the mail as a welcome to bank west thing of the top of my head. My card came a week or so later. I deposited my first month before I received my card. I can't find it in my email so must have got it by snail mail.

I opened my account today, made sure they had both my email address and mobile number recorded as part of the account opening process. ID process was very easy, my DL and Medicare details all that was required

PAN and Security Code were emailed (basically in real time) and from this I was able to set up online banking details straight away. Very easy and no dependency on anything having to arrive in the mail

The day I opened my account, they printed the welcome pages, which included account number.

Also fave me a pre filled form for wages to be done (didn't need, but since it has the info needed...).

Recieved my card maby a week later, in regards to the online login, I rang tge night I opened the account, which they emailed me and sms the temp password.

Cant remember if I have a pin number (do you choose when card is activated, or wait for it in the snail mail?)

Wages are already going into it $1000 per payday (just to ditch the fee).

Card arrived last week. I set the PIN number up earlier this week.

Today the original PIN arrived in the mail.

My first impression is that their level of customer service leaves something to be desired.

Having been involved with the Senate's 2012 inquiry into the post-GFC banking sector where Bankwest featured prominently as the destroyer of lives, if it were not for the 10k offer I wouldn't have gone near them. I will deposit the $2k per moth, transfer it back to my ANZ account two days later, do that twice more then cancel the account. Bankwest is scum, but given the industry it's part of, it's not hard to draw that conclusion.

I won't even take my card off the paper it was mailed in. If I play my cards right it will cost them far more in administrative fees to establish ad maintain my account then they'll ever get out of me.

2nd payment into account today.....will bpay it to citi on Monday. Put in application around 20 April still no card....,complained to teller this morning who will escalate it.
